Cyber bullying is just as bad as actual bullying (in real life).

Short version-young aussie girl commited suicide because someone was bulling her via msn apparently, and despite her parents comforting her just after it happened and her looking happier-she took her life anyway.

I could locate another-this is but one of several stories.

It seems funny I admit that (see my post in spam-and you get what I mean) but thing is-it's a loss of life-and this girl was just too young just to throw her life away over what ever happened...

If you had a relitivly happy girl who went online a fair bit who suddenly killed herself over some txt on something about her how would you feel?

This girl was only 2 years older than my brother (13-she's 15-the average user age here) so that's a BIG loss-especially to the parents.

And to be honest-I had those thoughts myself when I was that young-if it weren't for the online friends I did somehow make I might not have had the thought I have now...

"Live is more important-by throwing it away for anything means all the effort that everyone put into knowing or helping is thrown away".

Why if anyone here did the same I'd go to there funnerals-and personally kill the monstor who caused it!

(I hate bullies-I had so much crap in my life-and these poor saps had the same to them as well-now some of my worst enemies are my closest friends-simply because I lost the will to make friends in real life-they LOST all thiers-and now we all agree bullies of any level are ether low or have no idea of the damage they cause and need some education...any way possible).

That is just my stance and why I feel so sorry about this-if only I knew them I could have gave them the advice I was given...

"It's just txt-like sticks and stones-words can never hurt you".

Talking about suicides isn't laughing material :p
Grow up people, if you want to post "lol" without any clear reason, go to spam thread.
Cyber bullying is serious problem, one of girls I know is bullied this way. I don't like her myself, but she's seriously depressed because of that - few of my friends keep sending her emails with strange stuff (porn, pictures of crap, rick-rolls) I already told them to stop, but they didn't really listen. Only two of them realised they are doing wrong.
Some people are over-sensitive, and you can really hurt them just by calling them "trolls" or "noobs" online, but I don't agree that cyber bullying is as bad as real one :p

But I agree with that -

If someone commits suicide because of something some anonymous person online wrote, the world really isn't missing out on much.
    That's why I lol'd

It's a simple fact that all life is not special or important, regardless of what the Politically Correct world wants us to believe. And people who are not strong enough to withstand the world and all the many possible routes of negative comments don't deserve special treatment.

Anybody that takes anything online seriously doesn't belong on the internet. Same goes with people that don't know how to use the block function on MSN and any social sites.

'Cyber-bullying' ISN'T a serious problem; stupidity is the real problem.

People who care about what others think about them online need to have their heads checked. Online popularity is worthless.

Also, for people that harass others that they know personally (in real life) online, yeah, real smart move. You can be charged for harassment once the other person presents his/her complaint with evidence (along with your stupid photo on Facebook.)

Well, that's true. Thousands of people die of hunger each year, and nobody makes big news about them. Only when some fat, depressed kid hungs himself, because he was bullied in World of Warcraft (lol :p), medias go crazy...
Also, millions of animals die because of our world expansion, and nobody cares. I'm man of weak faith, and I don't think that human life is worth more than rat's, but that doesn't means that you can laugh because someone killed himself. I didn't see "I lol'd" in "Michael Jackson is dead" topic, and he wasn't more worth than random nerd who commited suicide same day.

    I lol'd

That's because unlike many people dying of starvation, there isn't something that's entirely to blame. Meanwhile that fat ass who played WoW and died from starvation, there's something the media will blame, of course they'll blame WoW. Thousands of people dying of starvation isn't really a story for the media.

I'm too lazy to write anything else.

    I lol'd

You must have missed the numerous jokes.

Michael Jackson's body was melted down to make plastic toys, so that little kids would finally be playing with him for a change.
Michael Jackson's death was due to food poisoning, they found 12 year old nuts in his mouth.
When Farrah Fawcett died and reached heaven, she told God that she wished all children of the world were safe. God killed Michael Jackson.

I can't think of the others right away, many were variations on these.

Wasn't there one joke that Michael Jackson's heart just couldn't "beat it"?
