So, anyone into cubing/speedcubing around here?

    Current PR for the 3x3x3 is 42seconds. And I just got a 5x5x5 and a 6x6x6 for X-Mas.

Uploading a How To video for the 3x3 right now. Will be up soon.

    I've been into cubing (not really speed cubing--3x3x3 time is ~40 seconds avg, 30 seconds best, which, if you've looked around, you'll know isn't great) for about 3 and a half years. I've probably got ~12 cubes, and 2 megaminxes. I've messed with a pyraminx. The ~12 cubes includes 1 2x2x2, ~4-5 3x3x3's (lost count), 1 4x4x4, 2 5x5x5's (one V-Cube, one Rubik's Professor), 1 6x6x6, and 1 7x7x7... (V-Cubes, of course)
I really need to tile the bigger ones sometime (Though since 5x5x5 tiles down are standard, I've tiled those--aside from a 4x4x4, because I want to get an Eastsheen or something better than my Rubik's brand... And I haven't tiled a 2x2x2 because tiles aren't made for those either, but the stickers are in fair condition anyway). A few of my 6x6x6 stickers are peeling, and it's unfortunately received the least use out of all of them.
Your record is 42 seconds, though? Are you using the basic method? If so, that's pretty good, but you should learn Fridrich (or something, not sure about spelling). Cubeloop.com, if you're interested. If you already know all of the OLL's and PLL's, well... Work on F2L.

Right now im using a hybrid. I solve the using F2L and then do the last layer beginners style. I'm trying to find a good tutorial on methods of solving the last layer faster. I use this method for all my cubes right now.(after reduction ofc)

To solve the last layer easier without memorizing some 78 algorithms or something, you could get the cross on the top and then do one of about 7 OLLs... Look for the ones containing the cross. It doesn't shortcut the 21 PLL's, but at least you're circumventing memorizing some random 50 algorithms.
Actually, this is pretty much what I do now because I haven't consistently cubed in a while and my memory has deteriorated a lot with regards to all of the algorithms. I'll probably re-learn them sometime next year or something. At least I won't be starting from scratch in re-learning them.
As for learning the algorithms themselves...
http://www.cubeloop.com/php/cube/expert.php?chapter=oll&subchapter=awkwardedges (the bottom half for the OLL's dealing with the cross)
    http://www.cubeloop.com/php/cube/advanced.php?chapter=pll (PLL's)

Wonderful tool because it shows you what you're supposed to do, much easier to follow along IMO. Always hated notation and stuff. I just remember what it feels like, what I'm supposed to see as I follow along with the algorithm.
