not another Muppet misquoting what scientists say. if you come with that argument you may think your cleaver but to those who have actually read and know what he means you look like an idiot that has just copied the standard creationists for beginners text book

  2. what are you talking about? im asking about a book thingy. lol it clearly states that 6 days of godly days is a hyperbole which means 6 freakin yrs.

wait youre talkwing about the bible right...the very same one that, if we were to take seriously, says that the world is only approximately 12000 years old, proving that dinosaur bones are nonsense...

the bible i agree shouldnt be taken literally, but come now...seriously...it might be 60 years to god, but to the humans who wrote it it was indeed 6 days...

I don't think that humans is God's work. I think that's not credible. My logic go to the Darwin's theory.

and the same god told JK Rowling to write about Harry Potter, and told H. P. Lovecraft to write about Cthulhu, and told Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis to write about Ghostbusters and told Gaston Leroux to write about The Phantom of the Opera, and told Matt Groening to write about Futurama. I can go on but i wont.

I think J.K. Rowling was just sitting in a coffee shop when the idea came to her. You've really got to feel bad for Robert E. Howard though, Conan himself apeared in front of him and forced Mr. Howard to write about him :D

before i start, i realize this is an evolution vs. creationism debate. but since the only experience of a creationist''s view on life i have happen to be christian. this post is just a way to put where creationism came from into perspective.

if nobody in this forum ever heard of jesus or christianity or any religion for that matter(just for the sake of the argument) and someone laid christianity on you. you would laugh me out of the room. god sent his son jesus to die for all of your sins. and its true because this really old book proves it. he walked on water, rose from the dead, water into wine and so on. oh ya and if you dont live by this book im afraid your all gonna suffer a horrible eternity in hell. but he loves you.

i dont think you guys would take it too seriously because your too smart for that. because your knowledge of science would kick in. and you dont believe in fairy tales. and you would realize that christianity came about in a time where people were very un-evolved socially. i guess you could say that people were stupider then. almost everyone was illiterate, and the bibles teachings were pretty much word of mouth. and lets not forget that it was enforced by the sword then. brutal punishment for believing otherwise.

i hate to be so cold about it, but in my opinion religion is holding society back worldwide. and its important to question such a big authority such as christianity. and i would love to debate with someone who disagrees with the science aspect of the debate. as long as they dont see my post as an attack. its not. be civil about it. (by the way my family members are christians to the max. and i was brought up christian)

no you wouldn't the problem is that they do argue the science of it because those that believe in the creation story have very little knowledge of science and the knowledge they do have is often taken from creationist resources that manipulate and generally lie about the facts we commonly know

you only need to go back a page in this thread to see what i mean i'll quote something

i posted a video explaining evolution and specifically transitional species because a creationist said there was none and asked for some examples

i then asked him to post a video from and expert of similar explaining why evolution is wrong and creation is right
    this is what he posted

the problem is they'd rather take the word of known liars and non experts in the subject then that of actual fact backed up by masses of evidence in almost every scientific field.

hey fuck you theres nothing good that i could find. and i do listen to experts you stupid bitch... and there's also evidence supporting creationism too... evolution is a theory. Also... it takes SOME faith because noone is positive that its true. Same with creationism. Its just the only thing that makes sense to me.

Ill take a quote from one of my favorite songs.

"I'm a believer, nothing could be worse,
    All these imaginary friends"

Nothing good has come from religion nothing but wars, murders, etc.
I love how people talk about how they know god is real that kind of thinking is why there are wars (not the only reason but one of the biggest cause)

You see there is no god and when people believe in this imaginary guy that doesn't exist your conscience becomes god and you take your attitude, ideas, feelings, etc and make them into god and you take that your words/ideas thoughts and vent them out and want to harm, yell, kill others who don't believe what you do.

hey what is with you Christians getting all upset when all i do i quote what you said i didn't lie i just simple quoted you if you looked stupid that's your problem for saying it in the first place is it not? and it only takes some one to go back and read to see it for them selves!

you say there is evidence for creationism (which will be hard without lying), then show me if there is so utterly convincing evidence show me, that's all I've asked since the start
and this time bring your A game not something that i will quote you on later and you'll get all upset about

why do you people keep saying this all you do is make your self look really really really really stupid because ALL scientific study is called theory even gravity witch actually has less evidence and is less understood then evolution but i'm sure you believe in gravity!

and evolution does not require faith at all if i have any doubts i can just go to my local library and pick up half a dozen books out of the millions that have been published about it or if i'm still not sure i can order the papers written by the experts on the subject or i can go to a museum of natural history to see some of the evidence on show and if the displays don't quench my thirst i can arrange a special visit to the back of house and see the thousands of fossils they have stored.

and thanks for being rude to me its so christian of you, poor little me just taking to you like your a human being and you talking to me like a piece of shit just because my evidence does not support your illogical truth.

and if i've made you look or called you stupid i'm sorry, it is only the conclusion that i have come to through observation but as with any study my mind can be swayed if the evidence is presented that you have the intelligence to make a substantial argument

    DUEL CRUSH:
As a Christian myself, I have to tell you there is no doubt evolution exists, and you need to stop arguing if it does. We are no where near like we were thousands of years ago, and Adam and Eve did NOT stand perfectly upright. Hell, back then snakes could even talk (Ok... that last one was a joke...).

The question here, to make is simple for you people, can be summed up in "did we evolve from monkeys". There IS evolution, and it IS true. This isn't some "wood is two parts earth, one part fire" science, this is hard proven science.

part of the problem is people see all those species of ape and think we are trying to say we came form one of them but that's not the case
all the species of ape will have come from from a common ancestor, none of the species of ape resemble that which we came from.

and actually we (humans) are cased as apes, it it doesn't matter if we came from them or not we are officially all still apes.

@getbuck here is the rules to this section

    Replying:

    - Debates are mostly based on well sourced information, however personal opinion will always work its way in, its almost impossible to remove the bias from most debates. For this reason it is important to debate against a persons information first and then address the opinion. Do not attack the person directly, debates are not flame wars.
    - Research your topic well before posting so that you have information and fact to back up your argument, without this your opinion is just that, an opinion.
    - Keep an open mind and be willing to accept any information given to you. Debates are a good chance to get your facts strait from people in the know. Our minds are constantly learning and gathering new information, so be open to taking it.
    - Try not to be offended at anything too controversial for example 'Is god real?'. Provide adequate information but do not preach to other members. Everyone has a right to their own beliefs.
    - Opinions are acceptable, providing they are stated as such, i.e 'In my opinion...', 'My opinion is that...' or similar.

That said and done learn and grow from this section and most of all enjoy sharing your information and what you know

takes some faith? faith is the only reason we are having this debate. because faith is just an illusion to put confidence in something that doesnt make sense or something someone doesnt understand. thats what my family loves to tell me if we get into this discussion. We will debate civilly about it no fighting or anything. and at the end of the debate, when i really have them cornered in the argument they dismiss what was said and play the faith card. Same with alot of my friends. and i bet anyone who is religious will play that card. "you just need to have faith." Its frustrating. because instead of questioning what doesnt make any sense whatsoever people justify it to themselves with faith.

its basically answering "how does it work?" with "i dont know. it just does."

but evolution takes some faith. Are you 100% sure that we evolved from almost nothing? I'm not and I'm not totally sure that God is real either, but it makes sense to me because of the law of entropy. Things do not become less chaotic, they become more that way. So to me it makes sense that the reason we are so advanced is because God created us that way.
