No seriously, if you think COPPA is Justin Bieber like I do, read this.

Or if your browser can't handle PDFs: try this instead.

I wanted to know if members of RomU thought COPPA was good or bad. If you want to keep your opinion to yourself, go ahead; you don't have to post.

So you know what COPPA is, click here.

so this bill is to protect children from giving out information by fining companies right?

you can have all the protection in the world, but without your child being educated about online activities and what people want, it doesn't matter.

Also I can be 13 and pretend I am 18 and pass by without question and give information to get what I want (porn, games, porn, etc.)

that is a bad bill, scrap it and make one about educating our children about online threats.

Did you just compare a human being with the law?

No, I compared a human with a pile of excrement. I compared the pile of excrement with the law.

Good idea...I'll post that on Urban Dictionary as soon as I can.

  7. COPPA is a load. I remember getting banned from a site a few years ago, when I was 12. I just casually mentioned my age and then I got banned the next day! I swear the people who thought of that bill should look up the word "ageism" in the dictionary.

How about we take that money for the bill and spending it on improving the US education system?

Especially when most of the schools don't teach children to think for themselves or making them smarter instead of dumbing down the education system like they have over the past years. It seems as if it has been brought down even more than when I was in grade school over 10 years ago.

Actually I think they're doing quite enough for the educational system. They need to stop butting into other countries affairs such as Libya. They're already talking about spending millions of dollars over there. (No exaguation, can't remember the exact amount)

It's not the governement's fault this time around. its the fact kids these days are more concerned of getting high or getting wasted. They rather do these things than pay attention in school.

Well, I think it's the government's fault, mainly the people who have been and are now in office.

Plus, security on the internet is really easy to get around I forgot to mention. As other people have said, it's easy to get around those age things.

Well if that worries you, we're getting even more "waste of space" into office. These people are the ones who want to bring this country back to the way it was about a century ago. I used to want the federal government out of here, but the people who are wanting to get rid of them are the people who are in the tea parties-most perferbly the racist, who wants to set this country back a hundred years.

You know, reading your sig, i would say you are in a very poor position to comment on other people's education.
Matter of fact, your sig shows one of the biggest reasons why it's the governments fault.
