    Whoa calm down mate here you go. http://www.softaward.com/download10550.html I don't know if it is a freeware or trial but it can convert DVD movies to ZEN including avi/wma/mpeg to ZEN format. Tell me how it goes.

    doesnt the player come with a software for converting the movies to the format for the player?? this is weird that you buy an mp3+ player and there is no software for it. i bought a philips mp3+ player and includes a software to convert any video into the required format for the player, then the user simply drag and drop the converted video into the player. btw, did you check out the manufacturers website to see if there is a tools for the convertion??

    btw, you can go to;

    http://www.videohelp.com/convert

    select the format that you would like to go from one to the next and read the faq.

    which ZEN is it? if it's that cool one with the cs card slot, i'm sure it can play AVI's (well, ones encoded in Divx/Xvid). i was just watching blue harvest on it the other day.

    anyway, VirtualDUB is your answer, easily the best converter, completley free - i use it very often for my creative and my phone with divx

    it's great, if you ever need to resize stuff and all

    oh, and the Allok MPEG-4 converter is the best not freeware one you can find. it's a trial that runs for 30 days, and it's nice and fast - it also doesn't freeze on my system

    What? I've heard of VirtualDUB but I thought it was only a trial that was free. Guess I was wrong.

    There is a good converter called SUPER, converts between many formats, including NDS (.dpg). If you use torrents PM me and ill be happy to refer you to a good converter for 'free'

    I have Super, I didn't know it can do .dpg files. Guess I won't be using dpgtools anymore!

    virtualdub isn't really a converter, it's actually a non-linear editing program.

    i know, but it does save as .avi, which is why i posted it.

    although, come to mention, it does seem to have this thing where mpegs don't get converted with sound (sometimes)

    Avi is a container format, the actual video could be compressed with virtually any codec. As for the sound issue, I tend not to use avi as a rule, but I don't think it's a problem specific to virtualdub.
