ComboFix is one of the most powerful tools one can ever use to combat persistent virii and malware but at the same time is also a very dangerous tool to use as it can mess up a system rendering it unusable if used by an inexperienced user. Unfortunately it was discovered on January 29, 2013 that a compromised version of ComboFix laced with the Sality virus got uploaded on bleepingcomputer as well as other system recovery community sites that mirror the tools for helping out people who have pesky computer virus and/or malware issues. It is a bit alarming that people who create virii are actually able to crack sites like bleepingcomputer now and inject nasty stuff on tools designed to remove their handy work. On the second page of that thread an Admin of BleepingComputer has notified the community that the creator of ComboFix has finally done fixing up the tool so boo~yah~! EDIT: Addendum yet again: And... it seems Subs (the creator of ComboFix) was the one at fault, or rather his defective mouse (as he states on the very same thread) so yeah... major oopsie moment there.
