cloud's "soulja boy off in this oh, watch him crank it, watch him roll, watch him crank that soulja boy then limit break that hoe "
true, not too many main characters were cool enough to actually make you want them in your party... in my opinion Tidus was really only good for getting Hastega but ive seen lots of people prove me wrong there
The most useful thing to have Tidus in your party(well,he is a mandatory) is to unlock the "Flee" ability on the Sphere Grid...IMHO
Basically, they both suck since in FF7 a character is only as good as the materia they have and in FF10 a character is only as good as their sphere grid. In essence, all the characters in FF7 and FF10 are exactly the same apart from limit breaks (and yuna being able to summon in FF10) which is why they both suck. Zidane ftw. Seriously though, jobs are the only way to properly distingush absolutely different roles between characters. And for anyone that still doesn't understand the cloud situation with SOLDIER, he wasn't a member... all his memories are actually zack's. Just goes to show what ODing on Mako can do to a man's memory.
why not have it to where anyone can do any job? like in FFX.. i like being able to choose learning a spell or attribute with someone i turned into a spell caster as opposed to that person getting +2 strength for the next 10 levels because the game meant for them to be a tank. is a great option in my opinion Zidane was just as effective as Rikku was.. the only good thing is that they both could "steal".. i personally like being able to pick which stats you get when you level up like in FFX.. why have Auron learn spells when you know he's never gonna use them? i liked FF9 but Zidane was just a shitty super saiyan haha
you dont need jobs, just set your characters up how you like them. in 7 you choose the materia you use so anybody can have any skill. in 8 you junction the magic, anyone can have any skill in 10 everybody has the same shere grid they just start at different points on it in 6 you just pass the magicite around until everyone knows everything
and i think its 5 where you choose your classes but im not sure, i cant be bothered to check. but you can change your class anytime with any character so anybody can be anything so its pretty much the same as all the others
the thing with 7 and 8 and 10 is by the end of the game when you've done everything though, your characters are no longer individual, they all have max stats and the best skills. In ff7 all you needed were the 3 sets of master materia, in ff8 is was just about stocking up on the best magic and ff10 was just filling in the sphere grid fully which made every character almost identical. in the earlier games like ff6 yes, you can learn alot of the skills but the characters are still very individual, only being able to equip certain weapons, having their own unique battle command each and having very different stats. FF5 was the one with the incredible job system and that's what made it so good to me, you can customize every character how you like but not to the point where they've just learnt everything and all the characters are the same. only certain characters can learn certain skills based on their role in battle
a lot of skills can be learnt by everyone. 9 is probably the best though if you want different characters with different skills in the others though you can choose to do that if you wish, and pick any character you want as a white mage/black mage or whatever i like all the systems to be honest, up till the sphere grid which i hate.
