Can't seem to burn games and play on my PS1. Weird logo appears.

Well as i can't burn in 1X and i still get some errors which i'm not sure what they really do. At the moment i'm just waiting for my laptop who hopefully will be able to burn better then this piece of crap. The big problem is just that, i want to burn at 1X but it says it can't do it so it goes over to 8X instead.

 

Suppose i will have to try 2x and 4x then. Seems like this still does not wanna work for me. I will get back with new info as soon as i can.
Also is there some kind of VIDEO tutorial? Which shows the whole burning process?

 

Sounds like someone isn't familiar with the jargon associated with image files.

When someone says ISO, the usually mean the image file. It does not necessarily mean .iso extension. It can be .bin/.cue, .img/.sub, .nrg (Nero), .pdi (Dreamcast), etc.
.iso is the standard image file though, and one should strive to have the majority of their content in .iso format.

As far as your issue, the biggest problem you have is getting a decent burn at x4 or lower. Pop it in the computer and see if it runs from an emulator. That should at least tell you whether you've burned the image onto the disc and if it will read. If not, then we know for sure that you've messed up the content (or the content you have is wrong) or instructed the program to burn the wrong files (or something else along the lines of user error). If it does read correctly, then the issue we have is somewhere between burn accuracy (speed), burn medium (quality of the disc), and the condition of the mod chip in your Playstation.

I think it has something to do with burn speed. One copy i made actually started the game, but it bugged and gets stuck on a Konami logo and randomly plays music, dialouge and other stuff randomly (quite fun i assure you). I can now test it on my better laptop and hopefully it will work. Now the other thing i will do is just to burn it on a friends computer.

Regarding the mod chip in my PS... Not sure, it worked like 4-6 years ago without worries. With a friend of my dad burning games for me all the time. Other then that the console has been in safe space so it have not dropped it or what ever. Normal games play fine, other burned games play fine.

Yet again my own other laptop can only burn at 10x 16x and 24x. Jesus christ why can't they just burn at what ever it is you CHOOSE T_T

If that is the right answer, and i also did read that you can see what "X" it your drive and CD support. Is it possible it might be better if i use a DVD? Does that matter? Can PS1 even read DVDs?

I have a burned copy of just about every game ever released on the internet for the console, so I really have no need to remember anything as far as the burning process is concerned. lol

As far as the OP is concerned though, get yourself a cheapy external DVD burner. They should have them for cheap as dirt now. They should all be x4 burners.

Any other burner? My CD-Rom has usually been the burner, never heard of an external one before.

 

It works just like any other burner, except that the connection made is through USB, and not internally. Try and find one that is USB powered. I hate having to find wall socket to power something. Couple that with an external HDD that also needs a wall socket, and you've got a hefty rig there. Both my Blu-Ray burner and external HDDs are all powered by USB and only require one USB connection and not two per device.

You might as well go with a DVD burner since those also burn CDs. And if you're really bold, go with an external Blu-Ray burner. I got mine for $200 USD and it does everything up to BD-R DL [DVD+R(W), DVD+R DL, CD+R(W)].

Yet again i read somewhere else about people who have burned at 40x and always do it and it works for them. Do you really have to burn at 1X? Maybe i'm doing something else wrong.

Tell you what, does anybody know of a rom from this site or could give me a tip about one here (if that's ok to link from THIS site) that someone has burned, walk me through it and see if it works ok?

 

Well now at a friends computer we were able to burn it using imgburn but some of those errors listed above still happen. Not as many of them but some still happen. Yet again we could not burn at 1X. It automataclly changed it to 8X.

It worked. Burned Chrono Trigger and all works it's just that it took 10mins to startup, and it loads very slowly ingame. Kinda sucks but i will try doing more copies later on.

I still dont understand those errors. They happen after the CD does the second burning. Will try to get a picture next time.

It may not necessarily be the speed that it's burned at, because yes, I've burned at higher speeds and didn't have issues. However, it is probably the burner in that it is only capable of burning at the lowest possible speed of x8, whereas for burners that work well, can burn at lower speeds. This may be indicative of the quality of the burner.

I don't know. I'm really pulling one out of my ass now. The only thing I can think of is to get a burner that can burn at a minimum of x4. And check your disc medium. Make sure that it's CD-R and not CD-RW, and it is a good brand (Verbatim, Memorex, TDK, whatever). It may be the Playstation after all. Years and years of using burned discs on a console supposedly wears out the laser faster (comparative to the Gamecube issues). You may just have a worn out laser...or modchip. Or both.

I'm all out of ideas.

 

Yeah i think that might be the reason to. The only thing i can do now is borrow some burnt games i know work and if they work well then something else is wierd.

Yet again when you burn with IMGburn do you get ANY errors at all? Cause we still did this time which made everything load slower.

 

You're not supposed to get any errors. That's why they're errors.
