God being omnipotent suggests that it cannot be killed. According to the Kevin Smith film Dogma, you can kill god if you: Hunt down god when he/she inhabits the body of an old man so he/she can visit the local pier based entertainment center for a game of ski-ball and render the human vessel unconscious. Then you must prove that god is not in fact infallible by being an angel cast out of heaven for telling god to go "F**k his/her self" and then enter the doors of a church an archbishop has declared will automatically absolve you of your sins no questions asked thus unmaking existence killing god and.....everything else.
The difference is god is refered to as a "person" or a "being" love is an emotional state not a person. So comparison of the two is null. I can understand how it's hard to understand as i have trouble understanding myself, but with all the things that happen worldwide this "SAVIOR GOD AMG" surely can't exist, if so why the hell would people worship him? An all knowing being who has no moral fibre what so ever? 5 year old gets diagnosed with cancer that's not right in any form i can't answer how the universe started because i have no idea. All i know is my belief is that we live opposite lives when we die? Example now i'm studying animation at uni, when i die (Hope not soon ) i will be born in a different parallel where i decided to take up nothing and work at Asda, i die again i join the army. I refuse to believe that you just stop existing so this is the only acceptable thing to me. All personal beliefs btw your all entitled to your own.
What i think is the theologian point of view on the after life is that we are in this life/reality to learn. When we die, if we haven't yet learned all there is to know or enough to have gained a higher understanding or state of mind from our experiences we are sent back and reborn in to another life so we can have another opportunity to gain that higher state of mind or understanding. This continues until we are ready to progress to the next level of existence. I like this idea.
This is the Buddhist view, that only by living a pure life can you achieve nirvana, and that you are reincarnated until you achieve it.
Cheers, i couldn't remember what was being discussed when i heard it in college whilst in a theology lecture. Don't know why i didn't make the connection....
You're just referring to the Judea-Christian God CJ, in other religions, a "God" can be killed, like Tyr of the Vikings did.
Okay, good... If I see a 'god' i'm gonna punch 'im or her :3 Serious time now... Like Dave_Salmon and Darkaxl I believe there isn't just an end... Though I also believe all religion is wrong, I believe that we are passed on, so we aren't drifting in darkness or just gone but we are sorta reincarnated but the memory is gone making you a different person through experiences... Like an energy... Because of this cloning has me confused, will it split the energy...
Ok so lets say im am Completely forgoten. Nobody knows me or cares about me or even know that i exist, There is no Law Proof that i exist as of Right now, does that mean that i automaticly just die ?
Perhaps all religions are right ? There could be a diffrent world for each relgion. Chirstians would go to Gods Condo and muslims would go to allahs condo and budhists would got to... I dont know err berty bassets condo. People who dont belive in religion go to a private condo .
I think God probably can be killed if anything in the Bible can be believed. Why would he cast Lucifer out of heaven unless he feared Lucifer. Only things that can die can know fear, otherwise it'd just be a matter of waiting.
There is a religion in south Korea which believes all religions are right and they worship many gods, saints, profits, etc.
if there are many gods, that means they are either added or created. Would that create the possibility that we can be Gods?
No, in other religiond & in mythology, some Gods were there at the very start, or were created just after an originator entity which on some the newly created ones rebel & rise up against.
Religion brainwashes you into believing in an idol that has no proof of it's existence. It is merely a means to control you or force you to act in a certain way. I personally believe in some sort of higher power (one cannot live their life with nothing to live for, there has to be something out there and the proof of that is all the "unexplained paranormal phenomenon"), but I don't believe that someone can come to me and put a name/face/personality to it. Who are they to say what should and should not be done/said etc?!? Oh wait, there is a book that was written years ago to specify these things, I forgot. Now we must all follow that book. Seriously, hasn't anyone played broken telephone? The information gets distorted in five minutes, let alone thousands of years. So if there was a "God" then for him to die, as many people already mentioned, followers need to stop believing in his existence. I, however, cannot be phased. Live my life according to what I see as real and true and good, and enjoy it.
if nobody remember you, know you or notice you, you are no differ compare to being dead because nobody would know if you are dead anyway.
Grimsim has a very good point there, though all religions are wrong in my opinion, what stops there from being some Enigmatic power out there? And if not a living thing or a force of some sort could not pick up any sense or effect from the existance of something then it doesn't exist.
Hmm...Okay - According to Anselm God exist preceeds the human thought - that would mean that even before we thought of the idea and concept of God, he is already there. Thus it would be in contradiction if we say that forgetting God is the same as killing him. After all, God is NOT bound by limitations, that includes being held into existence by anything or in this case - the thought of him existing.
No you are still assuming that he exists. Your point would be fair if he does exist, but if he does not, then forgetting him is the only way for it to happen.
Hell no god cant be killed neither Satan, you cant kill them because if you kill god why the hell would Satan exist and if you kill Satan why does god exists. If you kill one you kill (kinda) both. If there is no evil there is no good and if there is no good there is no evil. Everything has his opposite in order to exist.
