That's the way it is. If you want to fight back without the money, become a superhero.

And I'm starting to think that money is slowly replacing justice.

hohoho... about the last barangay elections, has anyone been offered to buy their votes? for how much? dont worry... you wont be reported... i just want to know the value offered for your votes?

yes... vote buying is rampant... but have you heard of vote kidnapping... :p

Vote buying is a very daft and flawed concept, in my opinion.

Guy pays you to vote for him, has no way to make sure you do. You vote for the guy you'd vote for anyways.

    You're a few bucks richer.

I don't understand why people still do it.

    True story from yesterday.

B.Chairman Candidate: "Boy, gusto mo maka isang libo? Boto mo kami ng partido ko"
*He proceeds to hand me some carbon paper to make sure I vote him and his cohorts*
    Me: "K"
*Proceed to write their names on a separate sheet of paper, and after handing them the "copy" of my "ballot"*
    B.Chairman Candidate: "Salamat ha"
*Hands me PHP1000, then after I turn around, I proceeded to trollface*

That, my friends, is why they should have them take a cellphone picture of their ballots.

in here... they go on buddy system... the ones who sold their votes have to go with someone that is "trusted" by the buyer...

and another tactic is they show their ballot to the party's watcher... then the watcher signals someone outside... when the voter comes out, then they get paid...

what im asking is... the rate of the vote... how much do they pay for your vote... :p

Connections to friends of the candidates, my friend. You need to know who is willing to buy a few more votes for their camps.

I just saw a Biography Channel docu on Manny Pacquiao. Makes me wonder about the upcoming fight against Margarito.

A lot to think about these days here. I'm more concerned with all the damage that happened in the North and the 10+ storms still expected to come by the end of the year.

Ah yes, Typhoon Megi. I hear the northern Luzon got pretty hit bad. Down here in Pampanga we just got torrential rain.

But 10+ storms? That's just insane. I want to spend Christmas in snow or clear skies, not hurricanes!

I think snow would have much bigger impact on use if ever. Hahaha :)

the funny thing during the election was after i voted, i asked told my dad in a funny way that i was selling a vote. It was a joke of course, but i noticed a few people who heard and was almost tried to talk to me. Damn, maybe i should have shouted that before voting, eh?

The election this october was so rigged. How much can a Baranggay official get from his community that you have to really fight for the damn position. These voters are your "kapitbahay" - neighbors and you will see them everyday even if they run against you. Are they afraid that friendship and brotherhood is far more important?

They should be lucky that their house doesn't blow up in the middle of the night, these so called competitors know exactly where they live.

I hope snow wont come to the philippines. I heard that there was time when in Aparri and the northern area of Luzon experienced a sharp drop in the temperature and hundred of people died...

I would prefer the worst storm than snow. For hundred of years we have faced worst typhoons and we survived, but a drop in temperature would be a surprise attack on our way of life.

not to mention... alot of the houses in the philippines (like in the squatters area) are not fit for snow...

Where did you get that? I've heard of this with fixed marriage especially with muslim clans but i never knew that sexual consent is 12.

I always thought of it in 18 above cause 17 and below still is statutory rape.

    A site that lists AoC.
I think even Wikipedia says so, and that it has been widely agreed on.

they agree on it... not the filipinos... :p

i dunno though... i still think 12 is still a bit too young... were not pedophiles here...
