Um, i suggest cdrking brand with that price range..they also offer encore brand if you want a above brand than cdrking.

Or try finding one on tipidpc website... hope that helps. a decent router for me cost at least 2.5-5k....

CDRKING!? seriously? i think the only decent products there are... erm... CD's... :s

their quality is a bit low... :s

I really cant recommend any good wifi routers with your price range... sorry... maybe someone might sell you a secondhand model or something... :s

    damanali Well-Known Member

Well, only cdrking will give you a brand new router with that price range of 1k. If thats 1K US dollars or Euros or pound... then its would be a different situation. BUT its pesos, less than 20 US bucks.

Thats why i recommended tipidpc... they could sell him a second hand router, or better yet a almost brand new one.

ok fine 2-2,500 is the most i'll pay. is there any good recommendations now? they say linksys is good.

  6. damanali

    damanali Well-Known Member

Linksys is always good. To be honest, i really dont care about the brand, i use both linksys..here in our house and a Dlink in the house in the province... both are just good...

Also, i suggest you just stick with a G type... the N type isn't worth it in our current technology. get a signal booster type of router, so it can cover the entire area where you will use it.

sorry but G type? N type? I dont think ill need a signal booster my house is the size of a condo so i guess i wouldnt need it that much.

So, a G-type will do. a Linksys G wireless router should be fine... if you have a small area, a cheap one should be fine... i bet you just need the router to wirelessly give your gadgets internet, right? If you have time, you can go to gilmore to pick one, or you can canvass on these following store's websites:

    pcgilmore
    pc corner
    pc bodega
    pc express

or if you have time to go to Mall of Asia, i suggest silicon valley... they kinda give you discounts and free items... I could vouch for them... I also suggest when going there... ask a lot if they can give you this and that...to make your money worth it.

I least recommend Octagon... damned jacked prices and rude customer service. Sorry, but i was a former customer and and i was not a happy one.

I saw TPlink as a cheap router, its like 1,300 or something. it would do fine in your home.
And last piece of advice, i dont advice secondhand router, its being sold for a reason, and dont buy the reason that he upgraded it for a better one. something is busted inside and you cant test routers on a meeting deal.

I'll keep that in mind thanks. Also its relatively easy to install a router right. it may sound naive but i just plug y dslu to the router or something like that right? :))) I'm sure i can follow instructions that come with router :D

  12. damanali

    damanali Well-Known Member

hehehe, its really simple. do you want to put password on it? then i suggest you follow the instruction when putting the password.

But to use it, just put the existing ethernet cable from your modem and plug it on your router's main ethernet port. after that, just plug the router to the outlet and turn it on, there you go and use it.

Also, pray that no free loader uses your wireless internet, cause if you both use the signal, the slower the download gets.

    BOO~YAH!

    I'm back!

PLDT's crew just got here & I'm now once again connected! So I demand LK's meanest, rudest & most vulgar insulting comeback for my return!

My only gripe now is this connection's slower than my previous at 785kbps whilst Smartbro was at 1mbps, oh well at least this thing's stable than that crappy ISP :p

    damanali Well-Known Member

how can it be slower than 1mbps of smartbro? you do have a dsl plan, right?

  15. Cahos Rahne Veloza

Cahos Rahne Veloza The Fart Awakens

MyDSL Plan 1299 is only 768kbps BUNDLED with a phone line. I didn't choose Plan 999 which is 1mbps BUT is not bundled with a phone line. To clarify, Plan 999 is only a 1mbps DSL service Access which means you pay Php999 plus the usual Php686~Php700 phone bill. Plan 1299 is 768kbps which is pre bundled to your phone line, so instead of paying Php1685 for a DSL & Phone line bill separately, I'll only pay Php1299 as my total monthly bill.

Also as I said, my Smartbro connection was 1mbps & this new one is only 768kbps so obviously this one's a tad slower.

I dont know what kind of smartbro you used but my smart bro: a usb dongle with a smartbro sim card inside it, where i can use anywhere using my netbook can't damn watch a youtube clip without using up my entire load...

but my dsl plan 999... which comes with a phoneline bundle here in our house... I can download a movie clip in less than a few minutes, plus along side downloading a torrent at a cap size of 180kb/s...

Well, if its slower as you said then its slower, but the good thing is its stable...

P.S: Can you describe your smartbro? We might have a different type so we really can't compare with each other.

Are you sure your MyDSL Plan is Plan999? How much is your actual monthly bill? If what you said about your phone Bill being bundled with your DSL connection is true & your total monthly bill is only Php999, then your plan is only Plan990 with only a 386kbps internet connection plus your phone bill. But since you said your connection is indeed 1mbps, then you are definitely on Plan999.

As for my Smartbro connection, mine was the earlier version of Smartbro that had an outdoor antenna that was powered by a power supply & was connected via ethernet cable to my LAN Card. Yours was the one utilizing a USB Port you say? That one does suck monkey balls :p loony once told me about that back in 2008 when the USB version was first launched, he explicitly warned me that that would suck ass as USB is an extremely slow means for streaming data.

Ah, i see you have the old smartbro... and i thought you were using like my smartbro usb dongle... so i was first surprised how you got 1mbps from the piece of crap... well, pardon me.

Well, I hope you make "sulit" your internet.

  19. Cahos Rahne Veloza

Cahos Rahne Veloza The Fart Awakens

LOL you didn't provide a translation for "sulit", which is roughly translated to either "to use/spend" wisely or "to make the best use out of" :D

And yeah, this is fine, it's kinda sluggish on Youtube though especially with HD Videos but I don't get lags when I log onto Flyff Ph which is good.

Hey Damanali, is Watchpad any good?

  20. damanali

    damanali Well-Known Member

Yeah its good, but i dont frequently use it, we have much better cable on tv than watchpad.

maybe animax was the only thing i use it with cause we dont have animax, but the rest are on our cable.
