then no. You can't put an AM3 processor in an AM2 board.

so what's a similar Motherboard that has almost the same specs without that failure? and also..could you help me pick good coolers(CPU and fans), cuz i want it to be as silent as possible, without a chance of overheating... -.-"

it's not a reason to discount the board. It just means you need to be careful when choosing the cooler. It's quite a common problem, if its not a northbridge cooler its capacitors, if its not capacitors its MOSFETs , if its not those its RAM. What we do now is choose your ram, then once we know the height of the ram modules we know what kind of clearance we need for the cooler.

For RAM look at G-Skill, Geil or Mushkin (they arent easy to find but they're the best manufacturers).

soo...i believe the motherboard/CPU uses DDR3, so how many RAM sticks will it hold? i'll search around in the meantime...

    hmmm....will the following work?

it will hold 4 sticks, and it is dual channel, meaning ram must be installed in pairs of identical modules.

okay...so i guess that means i have to have either 2/4 sticks...can't use 3...*searches newegg again*

    i guess this could work...

yes those will work. You need to find out how tall they are.

i can't find the height anywhere..

not even on the mushkin site?

    found it: 99.88mm x 69.63mm x 9.3mm

So we need a CPU cooler with at least 75-80mm clearance between the thermal surface and the bottom fins.

(i think i've said this multiple times...)

i don't really understand the noise ratings...could you help me pick a fan that is silent(or just about) and won't permit overheating?

it doesnt have sufficient clearance for the ram.

the scyth doesn't have enough clearance and I don't think the iceage will cool very well.
