Cahos, this game is very easy to jump in and play, online mode is basically nothing but creating stuff. Single player is about surviving.

 

Unless you set single player to "Peaceful" then it's just creating stuff too

I have one single player file set to Peaceful just to build and play with redstone circuits and tracks.

 

@Tirith: PM me your Minecraft username so I can add you to the whitelist.

@Cahos: It's easy enough to pick up. If you ever played with blocks as a kid, that's about the level of difficulty when it comes to building things.

@sonicfanboy: That's great, but if you've nothing useful to either ask or contribute I'd appreciate your not posting.

i have a bug i cant build anything apart from sticks

Well then what do you expect us to do? Nobody I know has had this bug, which leads me to believe you either have a pirated version or are doing something wrong in-game.

 

Try placing 4 "planks" of wood in your inventory crafting area, like so:
