the winner of the format war is standard DvD , there was a promise made 10 years ago and again 5 years ago by major labels to reduce the cost of cd/dvds because there were getting cheaper to make.
And now there putting out even more expensive music and movies.
Think the truth of it is, most people don't give a damn about the look of a movie , so long as its ok.
The dvd player can cost 30 bucks these days or cheaper, the movie 5 bucks if you know where to get them.
And the tv , everyone has one of those so.
    50 bucks to watch movies.
Blu-ray a few hundred, hd-dvd a few hundred, but not as much as blu-ray
I prefer blu-ray but dvd is still the best.

wrong. Blu-ray has a much higher capacity than HD-DVD, and HD-DVD has worse DRM, requiring you to purchase a new TV/monitor

As I said before, Microsoft have ZERO experience of storage media. They also have zero experience of writing bug free software and proper testing procedures but thats irrelevant. Sony, on the other hand, have considerable experience in the storage media field; they invented 3.5" floppy disks to name one.

Bullshit, money does not give experience; time and common sense does. and Sony are not dying by a long chalk; they are one of the biggest consumer electronics companies in existence. Their PS3 may not be doing very well, but surprise surprise, Microsoft's Zune was a commercial flop too and it didn't bother them. Sony make a hell of a lot more than just consoles.

No, I have no reason to be jealous. Microsoft is an immoral organisation with no ethics. The IT industry would be much better off without them
