ok, dell allow you to choose what video card you have, in your budget you can have an ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO 128MB for $60 extra, or an ATI Radeon HD3650 256MB for $100. I suggest you get the $100 as 256MB is more or less minimum now. I would also suggest spending the $25 to get the sound card upgrade to the sound blaster audigy HD as dell onboard sound is usually tacky. If you can afford it I also suggest you get the $60 processor upgrade (at least, the $80 is even better if you can; the others are probably overkill for your needs), as a lot of applications these days can take advantage of dual core processors. That and celerons are fairly poor performers. Also get a bigger hard disk if you can, 250GB will not go very far, however the hard disk is the easiest part to upgrade later.

Loony, you are absolutely right about that sound card things, My old Dell only goes like 20% Sound volume and Quality as my new CompaQ (which has Realtek)
