Best story in a game.Ever.

I chose "Others".
My favorites would have to be Halo, but you really have to read the books to appreciate it.
The Metal Gear Series is pretty good.
I like the Resistance games story too.
Jak games...

I've never really played Deus Ex,almost everything after FF VII sucks, so I wouldn't know, Planetscape Torment sounds lame, and I've never played Chrono Trigger.

 

Not the worst, it's up there though. Even after that, it's still entertaining and worth paying the least amount of attention to. Although after the first, I spaced out. It's similar to Uncharted in a way, rips off a lot of other things, not giving a nod to anything, but still being entertaining.

The Metal Gear Saga remains in my memory, also Tales Of Phantasia and Alan Wake.

Alan Wake only because of how immersive the game felt and how similar it was to watching a movie with a book-like commentary.

 

PHOENIX WRIGHT

 

I've only beaten the first Phoenix Wright so far, but yeah, I really liked the story, and how elements from other cases popped up every now and again in other trials.

 

Im not sure what to pick from, one of my favourites has to be mass effect.

 

as for me, i really think nothing beats suikoden series. especially suikoden 1 and 2.
the plot is really deep,full of epicness. with unpredictable ending.

 

PS2-Tales of the Abyss for me, no question. The last scenes where Tear said I loved you but Luke didn't hear was awesome xD the final scene was awesome too xD
GBA-Fire Emblem 6. Has the greatest character development I've seen in any game so far. And if you AAA Eliwood and Ninian, you've one of the best endings of GBA games.
DS-TWEWY. Do I even need to explain?
A lot of other games have great storyline but these are, for me, the best xD

 

Others
for the 360 i have to say star ocean the last hope, i dont no why but i think its incredible. For DS i think its either SRW OG saga endlees frontier or FF4. Ive played chrono trigger, TWEWY and some others that have been said but these stand out more for me.

 

heh, I haven't got the chance to play half a second of most a these. The only one I could actually ever play was chrono trigger, and still i think there are other games with good stories.

According to the credits, Final Fantasy 7 was based off a novel, last I checked.

I also like the phoenix wright series for all of the plot twists.

 

Ratchet and Clank 1, 2 and 3 had very good stories to them

Planning sessions for Final Fantasy VII began in 1994 after the release of Final Fantasy VI. At the time, the game was planned to be another 2D project for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi intended the story to take place in modern New York City in the year 1999. Several of the staff members were working in parallel on Chrono Trigger, and development for Final Fantasy VII was interrupted when the other project became significant enough to require the help of Yoshinori Kitase and other designers. Some of the ideas originally considered for Final Fantasy VII ended up in Chrono Trigger instead. Other ideas, such as the New York setting and the sorceress character Edea, were kept unused until the later projects Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy VIII respectively. The original script of Final Fantasy VII, which was written by Sakaguchi, was completely different from the finished product. Tetsuya Nomura recalled how Sakaguchi "wanted to do something like a detective story". The first part of the story involved a "hot blooded" character named "Detective Joe" who was in pursuit of the main characters. The main characters managed to blow up the city of Midgar, which had already been developed for the story.

I voted FFX. I would have voted for FF7 and 8 as well. I always liked those stories.

 

I keep thinking people forget about Final Fantasy 6. Everyone I talk to say that Final fantasy 7 or 10 is the best. But w/e, Chrono Trigger all the way WOOT!!

 

You know,Sakaguchi's version sounds like it can end up being better and fresher.I hope they keep the script for future FF or new Chrono or something.

I voted other, since nearly all SMT games have great stories. I love Nocturne the most (and i have played the first two courtesy of Aeon Genesis and a few friends). I played nearly all FF games, and their stories haven't really gotten me excited like SMT has. I also like Grandia and some DragonQuest titles.
