    Yes he does.
Phantom Hourglass: You can make yourself stronger.

    Both: You get more hearts.

Give me at least ten points why both Zelda series are not RPG's.

Well the most common features of a RPG is Leveling up, gaining new items and abilities. Turn based attacks (but not always)
That would be the core of an RPG.

Hmm a lot of games meet that criteria.
Just saying though. Not really relevant to the above posts.

true, gaining hearts is a way of leveling up, your life becomes bigger, and you learn new abilities which make you stronger. so it is basically leveling up. and you get all these items/weapons to beat the temples

Yes. Plus in Phantom Hourglass you use the Spirits to power up your sword/shield.

Zelda is classified as adventure game.

And I believe the whole "this is that and this isn't" doesn't actually work nowadays.

Zelda isn't an RPG. RPG, Role-Playing-Game, is one where you take on a character and build him from sucky to kickass over the period of the game.
Link never gets stronger. He only gets weapons.

You power up your WEAPONS. Not your character.
And plus, It's main genres totally cover "RPG" in a cloud of dust.
It's really more of an Adventure game.

Also, Zelda II was an RPG.

gaining hearts IS a way of leveling up. you can see it this way, your strength is not increasin, true, but your VITALITY is, what usually happens in RPG games when one levels up? this, gains more HP points.

    1. You don't really "level up", neither do your weapons.
    2. You don't have a wide assortment of weapons and armor that you can buy to make yourself stronger.
    3. In most RPGs your character has room for growth, therefore leveling up. Link is a legendary hero of time so Link doesn't grow stronger at all.
    4. Nintendo clearly stated it isn't an RPG.

The way you gain hearts is by going through the story, by defeating a boss. It's not considered leveling up RPG style, because you gain hearts only by going through the story.

Well I never played a Zelda game before.
I guess the fact that someones willing to have a argument over it means its worth playing.

5.Your character doesn't exactly have stats such as strength and stuffs which increases as you level up
6.Link is too awesome for you to train
7.Link doesn't need to level up hence it's not an RPG
8.Link doesn't talk nor does he has party member to talk his part(yea I made that up)
9.Link is fixed. You can't really equip him with armors or weapons to suit your playing style.
10.Does it really matter if it is an RPG or an adventure game?

A lot of main characters in RPG's don't talk lol.
    9. Tons of RPG's are like this, characters have specific weapons, Warriors, Mages, etc.
