They're going down now, but I'd say they were very popular up to the Black Album or Metallica album(original, good sounding shit) from Hammett, although I enjoyed Load and ReLoad as well. I don't mind listening to Seek and Destroy being one of their first songs, which was recorded with Mustaine, as well as the Four Horsemen. Good shit.

Mustaine is a god.. I started playing Jackson guitars because of him.. I have a Jackson tattoo.. He is IMHO the greatest guitarist ever.. Shame Jackson didn't sell to him..

how can we have gone 4 pages without mentioning Between The Buried And Me? Just listen to their song Selkies: The Endless Obsession, and then their album Colors

I guess the same way there's been no mention of Cradle of Filth.

Fantastic band. I love their Progressive death metal. It's like an Americanised version of Opeth. Colors must be the greatest album to have come out in ages.
I don't like black metal, even though their latest stuff isn't that "black". Do you guys know a band Norther? Very much like Children of Bodom but A LOT better.

I know Norther. And the vocalists other band Ensiferum. They are both pretty awesome

Yeah, Ensiferum are awesome too. I do prefer Norther though, especially their older stuff. Mirror of Madness must be one of the most classic albums ever.

I only recently was introduced to Ensiferum, I find I like their viking-themed music. I put together an Ensiferum R4DS theme for a friend of mine, which is how I learned of the band.

Was also recently revisiting Pantera's "Vulgar Display of Power." Man, I'd forgotten how awesome that album is.

"Vulgar Display of Power" was the best Pantera album in my opinion. "Cowboys from Hell" was really good too. I can't rule out "Far Beyond Driven" either. Pantera was awesome back in the day. The loss of "Dimebag" Darrell was a tremendously sad moment in metal history. Maybe he and Cliff Burton can have a jam session together.

If you like Ensiferum you may like Turisas. They are a pretty good Viking metal band.

Personally i prefer Ensiferum. I don't now why, but meh.
I really want them to do an Australian Tour. Preferably Melbourne. But thats not likely any time soon.

If you like Ensiferum you WILL love Amon Amarth and Wintersun.

They would never do an Australia tour, at least anytime soon. Unfortunately only Europe and Japan are into the Viking metal bands. That is a sad state of affairs as Viking metal is really awesome, especially if incorporated into Melodic death metal like the two bands I just mentioned.

I'm quite surprised theres no fan of Disturbed on here. Album Idestructible was incredible.

Dream Theatre has a few metal songs that i enjoy, mainly Under a glass moon

I've been listening to a few japanese bands: Asian Kung Fu, Awake, really the songs off of Full Metal Alchemist.

I'm gonig through a Dragon Force phase; "Hail the Beatdown man"

10,000 Fists is awesome. I like Disturbed.

I'm probably gonna catch hell for this, but what the hell, anyone here like Rammstein? Don't kick my ass for saying that grimsim. lol ;D

Whew, where to begin. Right now I'm listening to Machine Head, I'm surprised no one's mentioned them since people are going on about their new album being Metal Album of the year.
Slipknot; new album kept their new more melodic style but pulled some of their more brutal side from earlier albums back as well, good stuff.
My first ever metal band was System of a Down, so they will always hold a very special place in my heart. Scars on Broadway are great, I'm seeing them next Feb.
Tool are an awesome prog-ish/alternative metal band for those few who won't have heard of them. My fave albums would be Lateralus and 10,000 Days (Schism and The Pot are two great songs).
Rage Against the Machine are a fantastic band (Tom Morello is a god among men).
I also like a hardcore band called Parkway Drive, they just finished their world tour, and a melodic hardcore band called Rise Against.
    Then there's:

In Flames (Fantastic band in every way. There new album sounds like it was mixed by a pop producer though *cringe*)
Lamb of God (AMAZING vocals. Randy Blythe is truly amazing)
Lacuna Coil (Cool sound, male vocalist gets on my nerves sometimes though)
Devildriver (Vocalist is a twiggy little bugger, but he's got one of the meatiest screams I've ever heard)
Stone Sour (Corey Tailor's other band, great albums)
Metallica (A bit meh now that Hatfield has blown out his voice)
Slayer & Judas Priest (Instrumentally incomparable, but as a singer I find myself HATING the vocals with a passion. I mean HATING!)
    Arch Enemy (Great band overall)
Amon Amarth (These guys last two albums are incredible records)
All That Remains (Phillip Labonte - lead vocals - almost got the Killswitch lead vocal position when Jesse Leech left the band)
Breaking Benjamin (Kinda strange and a little inconsistent, but still an awesome band)
Chimaira (New Wave American Metal band - Resurrection is their best album)
    Iron Maiden (golden oldies)
Killswitch (Lead Vocals - Howard Jones - AMAZING)

And uh... yeah. Those are my favourite bands, but there are tons more that I like. Oh and to those who think that LP is metal; you're WRONG. Chester screams, but he can't even do it properly. He's blown out his voice so many times I can't count them on one hand. I'm surprised he can even still talk. He's not a good vocalist. Robb Flynn is a great vocalist. He's never blown out his voice and he's got a much more brutal style. You know why he hasn't blown out his voice? Because he knows what the hell he's doing!

I love them both too. They are on my list of bands a couple of pages back.
Thats a shame that they don't have much of a fanbase down under though. It would be really good to see them

Another band I am getting in to now is Behemoth. They have a sound similar to that of Nile, which i love. And their drummer, Inferno, is just unbelievable.

Disturbed is awesome. Only song I liked on indestructible, was mostly Inside the Fire. I like Rammstein. Never listen to their english versions of songs, like Engel :p Das Modell is probably my favourite.
