I have no idea which albums are which vocalists. I like Tarja's solo album though.

Tarja does all the albums but she got fired. Anette does Dark Passion Play. If you like them you should give a band called Tarot a shot. It's Nightwish's male vocalist's other band.

No Scar Symmetry mentioned? For shame.

Most of the stuff that's been mentioned is awesome for various reasons, but I didn't really care for Nightwish. Just didn't sound that great IMO.

Scar Symmetry is great. Will be interesting to hear the new vocalists. Dark Tranquillity is another amazing band in the same style.

    They're only half metal though.

I'll just list my favorite metal bands, one is just too limiting for me:

    Dream Theater
    Cynic
    Martyr
    Necrophagist
    Spastic Ink
Planet X (we need some good instrumental bands in here)

I really recommend looking into Cynic and Spastic Ink if you're into the progressive stuff like Dream Theater. Cynic is heavier and less long drawn out solo driven (more reserved), but the interaction between all of the voices doing their own thing is unreal. Spastic Ink on the other hand goes all out with unbelievable guitar parts from Ron Jarzombek (their second album was basically his solo album), and with his equally talented brother on drums, it's one of the most technical bands out there and remains listenable (not to mention there is a bass solo on pretty much every one of their tracks too).

Metal bands what I like now (I don't like these tomorrow anymore... I am what I am, tomorrow I listen... trance!.. not really) are Ensiferum , Moonsorrow, Wintersun and Kalmah (Haven't listen other metal bands a while ^^')

Nice taste. Personally I prefer older Kalmah to the newer stuff.

i agree with cainmasters.. Megadeth rock.. most of thier songs sound different but still sound like Megadeth.. another good band is Disturbed.. Bullet For My Valentine are great (seen em live, brilliant live, Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold supported both good bands too).. Sonic Syndicate are worth a try.. Best Song.. My list is as follows

    Dragonforce
    In Flames
    Deicide
    Cannibal Corpse
    Blind Guardian
    Dream Theatre
    Dimmu Borgir
    Nile
    Amon Amarth
    Ensiferum
    Wintersun

    Hammerfall
    Turisas

It's too hard to put it down for one song per band though. Seeing as so many are good.

But yeh. I like various genres of metal. But as long as it keeps its distance from emo/punk shit, its all good.

Judas Priest (got to see them with Testament this past August), Iron Maiden, Motörhead (would've liked to have seen them on the Metal Masters Tour but no Seattle shows)...who am I leaving out?... ???

...looking at the other bands listed in this thread, I seem to be in the "Fogies" catagory. :D
