in regards to the post, of all time im going to have to say metallica(classic) and for the new age..protest the hero and btbam for sure

 

its true they aren't metal but fall out boy is ok ....cant say anything god about mcr though

 

can't disagree with that.. if theres a fall out boy song on rockband ill sure as hell play the crap out of it..but to clasify either of those as metal bands.. xD

couple of the songs are real poppy..so i guess u would consider them pop metal

but some of the songs on the self titled album that just came out are hard as ****

My top faves are Dream Theater, Edguy, Helloween, Ayreon (and of course the unbeatable "classics"; Manowar, Maiden, Saxon...).

Also Labyrinth, Blind Guardian, Soilwork, Mullmuzzler (with James Labrie from Dream Theater) and some AOR like Ten (or the solo-work of Gary Hughes), Kingdom Come and stuff like that.

I love conception-Albums like Dream Theaters "Scenes from a memory", Ayreon`s "Into the electric Castle" or the whole Avantasia-discographie. Cinema for your ears, you know?

 

Hmm... I'd have to say Killswitch Engage. They are beyond amazing. As people, as musicians, I respect them so much. Amazing band. I can go on and on talking about them but yeah xD

Some of my all-time classics favorites are Running Wild, Blind Guardian, Sodom, Destruction, Manowar, Venom, Manilla Road, Darkthrone, and Slayer....overall, it's all about Germany.

HOWEVER, a lot of the newer thrash bands are just amazing. Toxic Holocaust, Dismantle, Fueled By Fire, Merciless Death, and Mortifier--all on the Slayer, Destruction, Sodom end of the thrash spectrum.

Overall, I'd go with Darkthrone and Blind Guardian.

Well, I listen a lot of metal bands, but my all time favourite band is Megadeth. They are the first metal band that I ever heard, about three-four years ago. In my opinion, their best song is "My Last Words" from their second album "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?". The drums are perfect, the rhythm is amazing and the solo is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Check it here.
Of course I also like other songs of other bands, but this song is the best for me.

Dethklok: Dethalbum II is worth checking into for a few songs the whole album is a bit better than the original.

Slayer: World Painted Blood fixing to check it out as I somehow overlooked it, probably nothing much different than past albums but I'm not complaining.

Just to weave off topic here, I think MCR and FOB is good for what they are, if you're expecting pop rock, then you'll like it. FOB old stuff is pretty good (DEAD ON ARRIVAL) and MCR's newer album reminds me of Queen if you get past it's overplayed singles, the showman ship and delivery given on The Black Parade is similar to something Freddie Mercury would do. Listen to Dead!, House Of Wolves and This Is How I Disappear, good stuff. These bands don't really get the credit they deserve, and get hated on for no other reason besides their look.

Protest The Hero, as I said before. I've seen them live, awesome.

 

agreed, fob and mcr still shouldn't have been brought up as metal bands but eh..

and i hate you for seeing protest the hero live before me :/

 

Metatalica is the best, but Nightwish (Bye Bye Beautiful) isnt bad either
