awesome anime games... THAT ONLY COME IN JAPANESE!!! -_-

I kno that Montreal is in Canada, but you see Quebec wants to seperate itself from Canada, cause it has it's own culture, language, history, etc...
so the first step to do that is to make things only accessible to the population I think

 

Nah, the whole "let's separate" thing went out with Trudeau in the '70s. Now Quebeckers / Quebecois really just want recognition for their French heritage, etc. Also, Canada is bilingual. That's why it's completely understandable for them to do a French version and an English version.

 

The real reason why Anime based games often never gets released in English is the licensing issues because to port a Japanese game into english, the localization publishers must pay taxes regarding the use of licensed characters & other symbols taken from these anime.

Take the Legendary, Super Robot Taisen Games, the only reason why Super Robot Taisen Generations for the GBA was released in English was that there were no licensed characters in that game, like Mazinger Z, Voltes V, Gundam etcetera which made paying licensed character fees minimal.

Oh & localization publishers don't want to risk profit losses as well. What if a game like the Super Robot Taisen games didn't sell in America &/or Europe, how will these companies handle millions in loses?

 

Zoids. Just because America can't see how great these games are dosen't mean that it shouldn't be in English!

 

You can't learn fluent Japanese from watching anime.

But I don't hear people speaking Japanese anywhere in the Philippines :S Except for the occasional ohayo.

 

English & Japanese are two very different languages, you just can't learn Japanese effectively just by watching Anime because in Anime they use coloqial terms that may or may not be used throughout Japan. Like one word my former uber Otaku friends & I were arguing about alot back then. It was "baito" which according to them was the word for "work", "work place" or "to go to work", but according to an English to Japanese Dictionary "to work" or "work place" is Shigoto.

 

IIRC Baito is work, job or chore.

BTW i just found out the game i wanted to play all this time The Idol M@sters is in PSP..... but in japanese T_T

And here in this topic, I thought you were ranting about games that are only released in Japanese...

Look, you can whine and complain all you like, but would it really kill you to wait for those Japanese games to be released in English? It's better than putting up with the fact that certain Japanese titles won't be released in English at all. I'd say that although Kingdom Hearts 358/2 for the DS is released in Japanese with plans for the English version on its way in October is better than nothing at all for us, English-speaking users.

 

I completely agree with you in that. It truly is a shame that so many titles are not released outside of Japan. For example many Otome-games, which I adore. I found a way around the problem by learning Japanese. Still, I can only play games that use relatively easy language (not too many kanji) or are full voice acted. In other words, many games that are meant for adults are out of my league, which is a shame...

"Baito" means usually a part-time job. It is mostly something young people do. For example students, who work at convenience stores, restaurants and so on. I think baito is a temporary job. It is easier to get and the pay isn't usually as good... (But it can still be pretty good considering it is Japan we're talking about...)
"Shigoto" is work that is more "serious", if you can say that. For example salarymans do this shigoto thing. I'd say shigoto is kinda similar to profession. The word has the sound of more serious commitment than a baito.
So basically shigoto is more respectable.

Argh dnt remind me please that KH is in japanese oh i STILL cnt play it! I dnt want to spoil it so im waiting till it comes in the US at least. Japanese games like love revo, Vamprie knight (i WISH I CAN READ JAPANESE!! I understand though reading it is impossible.. lol) Plus ouran host club high school.. SOOO many otome games are in japanese that i wish like the jump ultimate all stars they did a english patch for VK!!
