A man goes door to door selling stockings for eight hours a day. it takes the man five minutes to call on a house and then move on to the next and an extra five minutes to make a sale. He can carry only 24 packs of stockings with him at any time, but can at any time take fifteen minutes to replenish his stock and be back where he left off. If the man sells four stockings at every third house, how many stockings does he sell in a day?

 

He sell 4 stockings every 20 minutes. So, in 120 minutes, he can sell all 24 stockings.

He has 8 hours.

2 hours + 15 minutes .. 24
4 hours + 30 minutes .. 48
6 hours + 45 minutes .. 72

7 hours + 5 minutes .. 76
7 hours + 25 minutes .. 80
7 hours + 45 minutes .. 84
