Censorship is truly messed up, yes. As for the games-some people are born with defects (ie depressed etc) and then play them/...it makes them worse at times. I am living proof of that-wether watching my paren't fight continously or the fact I never had anyfriends until I was 15 is another story... But yes-you don't become addicted/depressed because of a movie-it justs adds to it. (fill me in on oldboy-never heard of it) ...censorship is always gonna be messed up-each country is different-see the game in my avatar-they changed it to "probotector" in PAL territories because some of the countries in that region had a problem with guys running about killing other guys...so they had robots kill robots... And in australia we still have issues with content-some games have had to be ethier have content changes (time splitters 3 had to change because of the violence) or banned (man hunt) because we lack an R rating for games... Of course that's another topic alltogether-point is-censorship is messed up and unless a universal system is made that cannot be altered to suit the times AND be flexible to include times when the rules are not so clear... If i could lsit I would-but I'm a black and white kinda guy.
Ouch. See I'm in the states so i have no idea about ratings in other countries. I just know here we have e t t+ M +18 i dunno the exact ones ratings just the gist of it. Some people are a lot worse....Parents fighting 24/7 no friends and people at school relentlessly making fun of them. A movie just adds, same to games a normal person it won't be affected by a game. I mean you can also be depressed and be fine playing a game too. (so you know oldboy is about this one man who was locked up for 15 years. Not in jail but held captive for some unknown reason. and all of a sudden let go and vows revenge...so its like how people connect that movie to the shootings...i dunno?) Anyways censorship is messed and there should be a universal system for all countries that way things could be a bit easily regulated. i mean i think nudity should be held for M games for the fact that's normally the aging for like pornography anyways. It would keep things simple in a way.
Why should it depend? In movies and games there's different ratings a movie/game could get depending on the content. Like if there's violence and light sexual content/references: PG13. While a large amount of gore and actual sex or you see a booby: R/18+
The big argument here, is no matter what, sex generally sells. So adding adult content to games is a great way of marketing it to the larger audience. It might not work so well if the industry was completely flooded with adult content, but while there aren't a great deal of games doing it, it'll stand out as unique and it'll sell. Not to mention it will gain publicity if media outlets pick up on it. I have nothing against adult content in games as long as the rating is appropriate for the level of content. As for the children they shouldn't be playing games outside of their age bracket, even if this means having 18+ games that require ID to be checked prior to purchase to enforce this. If parents want to let 13yr old kids play 18+ games, they have them selves to blame for any repercussions from it.
I see nothing bad in adult content. I mean, in nowadays there's adult content in everything. =P Movies, games, TV-series, clothes, food, drinks etc. It's people's own fault, if they let their children to be contacted with adult content.
spongbob square pants (cleaning the "insides" edition) that brings shivers to my spine... what do you guys think about sexual parodies about seemingly sexually mild shows (ie, a sexual version of transformers, or the thundercats... dan you furries)
yea!... wait doesn't that mean... wait... no... that means... ewwww... i want mine on a hot girl that likes me ^.^
As an adult I should be able to enjoy or reject my experiences. I do not consider game or film media as an experience. Who does?
Pr0n based games are a bit forced but sex in actual games are good. Think GoW. Funny and gives hella red orbs! Think Heavy Rain. It enpowers (I hope that word exists) the characters and we can put ourself in their position.
