Wasn't the emo debate just about the emo stereotype?

well, i dont know much about emos, but if i am to share my view it would be factual because i would me speaking from what i have heard. i doubt they are because i have this friend that is or was emo and i doubt he is gay. so i dotn believe that are.also when i research on the internet most results say they are and stuff.. i dont know what really to believe.. as i have been saying in previous comments on other topics is that i dont disciminate against people and things as long as they dont affect me.. and i doesnt so i would mind having emos friends as long emo stands for emotional and not gay

Lol, emos. They're nothing to worry about, just idiots who think that shitsux because they can't get laid and so feel a need to apply the "outcast" label to themselves and shun social contact as a means of "punishing" themselves for being stupid and the world for being "so cruel". Protip: nobody gives a flying fuck, and they don't need help that isn't a good kick in the backside and a reevaluation of their priorities.

The real people that need help are those whom you can't tell have problems, like that quiet kid you never knew had an anger problem until he stabbed three people with a ballpoint pen.

I just read the replies on this topic and wow...what a load of douchbags you lot are.

    1. emo means EMOtional.
    2. emo ALSO is a genre of music
    3. Not all emo's do self-harm
    4. emo has a fashion code (but it doesnt have to be followed) tight jeans, short tee-shirt and converse
    5. emo's can be gamers (like me)
    6. emo, goth and scene in my view just the same.

Tbh, Emo people are quite kind. They do respect people.

When people hear the word "emo" they instantly think...suicidal, heavy death music etc.

I for one is a emo, and I listen to J-Rock and Rock, Metal etc
But I don't do self harm.

So you all might wanna think twice about what a emo is, because you all don't have a "flying-monkey-crap" what you are on about.

A lot of people can't handle their own emotions, the last thing we need are people who wallow in their latest teenage drama wearing it on their sleeves. I don't care what EMO means, personally, it's a dead trend, and was stupid. And i hate that scene is taking over in its place because it's just as bad, if not worse with all the dumb piercings.

Emo is rock music with crying. It's not a genre--it's a sub-genre. And a shitty one at that.

Certainly so, but enough do that emo has the association with cutting. Can't kill that one--blame your emo friends who have nothing better to do all day but listen to Simple Plan and whine about how they're going to commit suicide (really won't) because their parents won't let them take the car for some stupid reason. So yeah. Blame your emo friends for that stereotype.

That's not necessarily a fashion code--more like a targeting system. Let's make ourselves hated even more, and let's standout when we do it!

Too bad you guys don't have any friends on Xbox Live.

They're not, and it's silly you mention that. Look up the subcultures--If you're emo and emo and goth are the same and goth culture has a slight affixiation to BDSM, does that mean you're into BDSM?

They have no friends, so their only social interaction is running into people, yelping and running away. No way you can be mean about that. Unless, like, the person they yelp at is severely disfigured due to an accident. I guess that'd be mean.

And for good reason. It's not like you guys aim to change that stereotype.

    Exception to the rule.
I'm sure that you're not really sure of what an emo is and are just following a social trend so you can fit in. I have a flying-monkey-crap of what I'm talking about.

??? was this thread rolled back a bit or did I just imagine reading some posts since ricky_'s and also posting here myself?
Edit: Seems that a few posts where deleted including mine. No worries at least I know I'm not going any madder than you know I am. :p

Peace to the emo's and $100 dollar t-shirts to the scenster's.
    /end cack

I gotta say, any subculture that inspires the amount of backlash that the emo's get has got to have something going for it.

Isn't being an emo like being a sort of uber-teenager?
