    notes:
    -fixed the spelling
    -removed quicktime, and real player.

    questions:
-I read once that its not advisable to have two or more anti-virus because it would result into the softwares fighting among themselves. Is there a nice combination of softwares so that this wont happen?

don't get quicktime/realplayer, they suck. get quicktime alternative and real alternative instead.

The GIMP isn't a type of Photoshop, as you drew in your chart. Also, you spelled "suite" wrong. If you get K-lite, what's the point in getting Real Player? Real Alternative is included in the K-lite Codec Pack.

your software is dependent on what you use your PC for.

    For example:
You might not need Padus Discjuggler at all if you don't use it for burning backups of dreamcast games.
You might not need Nero at all if you don't have a Sony DVD burner like I do.

It all depends on what you do.

Quicktime is bullshit, you can always just get a KLite codec for Media Player Classic.

Quicktime (and iTunes) like to create startup shit.

Anything that does stupid crap like that either gets completely disabled (in services.msc) or uninstalled.

I always get reader_sl in the startup from Acrobat.

not sure about the rest cause i haven't heard of them, but he's right about Quicktime, ITunes and pretty much anythin from Apple (i believe they made them?) i once installed it for mine, created maybe 10 startup files the second they finish, and slowed my slow enough computer down to the point i can barely do anything :-\
which reminds me, instead of 7-zip you may want to try something called IZarc, it supports, i think maybe over 37 different file types (i didn't count). although i find it a bit harder to use when compared to 7-zip

after you have installed a load of programmes or even one.

go into RUN and type msconfig then go to start up and uncheck everything that says its runs form a programme folder. your pc should now turn on in a few seconds.

Better yet, use portable applications if you can and put it in your flash drive. Some programs you're not going to use more than a few times, and it's better to get a portable version rather than have it fill up your installed programs/ registry. Oh, and ALWAYS have the Win XP recovery CD / a Linux distro Live CD/ something along those lines available at all times. You never know when you'll need it.

how would you create a portable version?

Just install it to the portable drive?
What happens to the registry then?

The portable programs just temporarily installs itself onto your computer and removable drive, and they temporarily make changes to your registry I guess (some). I could easily be wrong though.
