no its the private key used to sign software so you can make pirate/homebrew software appear legitimate, resulting in unmodded consoles running it because it cant tell its not legit.

i believe its that one. but hopefully now it will not need that. since they now have the private keys :)

I just realised something, how will 3DS games even be played? I don't think we even know if it will be via Cartridges, new media or even only digital only.

they already announced its going to be through cartridges. bigger ones in size though, since they are expecting 3ds games get to 8gb in size

Oh, wow... so you can potentially (eventually?) run pirated games on a completely unmodded console? A big "wooops" on their part...

Oh yeah, I completely forgot to be honest.

The use of cartridges to play 8GB sized games definitely isn't going to be the cheap option in terms of manufacturing and production. Just shows how willing Nintendo are to not make video games digital only.

Coincidentally, the PSP key was with the PS3 key, so that's opened up a whole new avenue for both consoles.

It did take a while to do, but it turned out that the security was easy to break once they got the rest opened up.

If it DOES get hacked, one game at 8gb is already big! An SD card that size is already quite expensive, I would rather buy the actual game even though they will be expensive :/

... they'll probably try to compress the hell out of it, like the N64...

hey dude you look familiar, are you on the Purple Cube?

I don't think anyone should start hacking the 3DS and getting ROMs available until we can properly run flash carts in DSi mode and make pirating DSi-exclusive games and DSi-ware possible. But I don't doubt that SOMEONE will be trying.. Then coming to complain that hacking the 3DS isn't like hacking a DS Lite.

supposedly the supercard team is working on a new card to be able to do so. only time will tell. because the ievo was kind of a downer since it can only use these features on homebrew

Oh, really? Huh. Well, I expect the DSi to be fixed and done with before they move on, since once they move onto the 3DS then the DSi should be fully cracked and piracy-ready.

Team Cyclops already announced that they had DSi mode working on E and U properly dumped DSi Enhanced games. While in BETA, they still claim European and USA DSi-Enhanced Support on release.
