hi i have just downloaded the very first zork (yes the text adventure) and i have been progressing through when suddenly the game refuses to take any commands. it just repeats the last word twice. is it because my move list has reached a maximum of 75, or is it just because the game is old?
Sounds like you are in the echo chamber? If so, you need to find the direction that you came in from and go out the direct opposite, ie. if you came in by going NE then you need to go out SW. I think there was only one way in and one way out of that room. No other commands work in the echo room until you exit.
I typed everything and yes i'm in the echo room. he just repeats whatever i say twice. i tried exiting but it didn't work.
Going off of pure memory since the last time I played the game it was on my Commodore 64, try typing "echo" (without the quotes of course).
