I'm an expat living in China and my local game store stocks these: http://www.r4isdhc.com/download_silver_new/ I tested the cart with the official kernel, everything is working fine. I got it home and stuck YSMenu on there and ran it. The software didn't load and...the end. My cart no longer shows up on my DS or 3DS at all. I switched SD cards and software...still nothing. At the time I guessed I just had a bad cart so swapped it for another. Now after sticking YSMenu on there again, the same thing has happened. Except not only does the cart not show up on either console - it also freezes my 3DS on the Home screen. Again, changing SD cards and whatnot doesn't change a thing. I also have one of these http://www.r4isdhc.com/download_silver/ Which looks exactly the same except it doesn't have "NEW" in the corner and won't run on new 3DS models. YSMenu works just fine on that with the same SD Card. Which is why I assumed it would work on the "NEW" version too. Aaaanyway. I'm going to have a tough time convincing the store owner I got 2 bad carts in the space of a day. So is there anything at all I can do to bring it back? Thanks.
It's quite possible you are downloading a corrupted version of YSMenu. Where are you getting it from?

Honestly, there's a chance I've been installing it incorrectly as, until 30 minutes ago I was under the impression that the worst that could happen is the software not booting up. I didn't realise bricking carts was possible. :/ I was hoping there's a way to fix it but I guess not? I'll just have to pretend the card stopped working by itself. Luckily there isn't any evidence...except it was working fine in the shop an hour ago. :S
Well, that version is fine. I suggest using the newer version though. I don't have that much experience with 'un-bricking' but another user may be able to help you. If I was you, ditch the card and go for another one. Like, a DSTwo or R4i Gold 3DS.
