The cathode ray tube might have given way/wore off/busted. Either replace it by taking it to a repair shop or buy a new tv. Cathode tube tv nowadays should be reasonably cheap depending on the screen size, cause the new trend has moved from the conventional tube tv to plasma and LCD.
