I've downloaded Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii twice, and both times the file has been corrupt. Downloaded over wifi once and then tried wired. Same result both times. Any help?

File probably corrupted as you said. Try requesting file recovery/re-upload : http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?board=12.0.

it's very unlikely to be corrupt at source. Have you used a download manager?

Will need to check source file Loony to be sure. He didn't mention his download being partial though it can't be ruled out.
One other probable reason could be his WINRAR needs updating.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses, sorry for the delay on getting back.

I did not use a download manager either time. I'll certainly try that, once I've built my points back up. Which one would you guys recommend?

Out of curiosity, because I'm uninformed, how does a download manager help?

And I'll request recovery via the link Prectorian gave.

    Thanks!

Edit: to clarify, both downloads went to completion without being paused or interrupted.

A download manager downloads the file via itself rather than the browser, in case your internet fails, etc. your download wont be stopped, only paused.

to elaborate on what duncan said, a download manager basically allows a broken download to be resumed from the point it was interrupted (either by the user or by something going wrong). Sometimes interruptions can occur in such a way that the browser believes the download has completed, when it hasn't.

    UPDATE:

Ok guys, I tried again this morning using IDM, and the file was still corrupted. I'll post over in the other forum for file recovery.

I have tried downloading several times with different managers, each time it gets to a certain point and says it's corrupted

I also have the same problem. I started downloading the file and the download stoped after 2 to 3 GB (of actually 6.4 GB). And of course when I try to extract it, it doesn't work. I used two different browsers and 7zip for extraction. Is it the file itself then or the dowload manager?
Btw: Same goes for Zelda- Skyward sword.

you are not using a download manager, please use one. (browser built in 'download manager' are not real download managers and don't count because they cant resume).

On top of that, you'll need WinRAR v.5.0 or newer, since 7zip hasn't support RAR5.

I tried what you said. But after 99% the download manager was unable to finish the download (unknown network error). And I also got an error message from WinRar, which says that the file is corrupt.

well of course, unless its 100% you cant successfully extract the file. Seriously someone needs to put a sticky guide for people on this topic. im sure there are 100s of post that are unneeded with pretty much same thing said. Need newest winrar, make sure the download file size matches the one posted, and last but MOST important, if you going to download large files, use a download manager cause isp loves to disconnect users automatically. This is very common especially when using a massively used services. Course there is also max data limits, servers failures(some have been known to explode i kid you not), power outages, and reset dumping you to a different server. Who says those field trips to the phone company isnt educational.....yeah day off from homework.

Yeah maybe a thread on troubleshooting failed downloads would be nice and save you some work. I used the Free Download Manager. But that wasn't the problem. When I tried it on a different computer it suddenly worked. So no corrupted file, only stubborn programs somewhere in the background. Thanks for your quick reply anyway :).
