Hm... I installed mine with no problem... can you try to give more detail, like your service pack?
I installed mine on windows 7... Maybe you can try this.

Right-Click the setup, click properties, click compatibility, and click the drop down button and find WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 3 or 2.

    Operating system.

    Vista is the OS.

Was it already on your pc?

Did you buy it as an update?

Or like my windows 7, downloaded it and used that :p

Well it helps to know, but for now let's assume it's legit.

Did this happen only the first time?

Have you tried sending an error report?

    It should work.

There's your problem, you're using Vista. Upgrade to 7 bro.
Also, you get a disc with it when you buy it, don't you? (I got one)
Don't install it from the disc, just connect your remote and let Windows connect to the Internet to download the drivers.

Or you might want to check if it's already installed drivers, go to the device manager and check for the controller.
Check if it's installed drivers or not, if it has, uninstall them.
Lol. If you mean, wasting your time rather than working, you're right.

Vista worked fine with my controller...but I didn't have the CD since it was second hand.

    Just plug+play.

And error reports can help, if you got no clue and your windows isn't pirated like his, send it...it may (most times for me) help you by telling you what the problem is, and give an answer sometimes.

Your computer probably came with the driver files...
Mine came with Recluza driver files for whatever reason.
But I had to install my controller drivers and stuff from a CD, which worked.

Hi all! I just had this problem myself on W764bit and this was the first site i came across regarding this issue and saw that the original poster didn't say how he resolved it. Whilst reading, one post gave me an idea which i was :-[ that i didn't think of it sooner. I joined just to resolve it for others as it is the first thread from google results, though i'm sure i will be here often now :D

    Anyway here's how to:
When you first plug in the control windows will install a basic driver so it recognises it and then just use windows update. If your windows is not legit just make sure you only select the xbox control update!
