With the end of the trilogy of Prince of Persia involving the sands, Ubisoft's latest Prince of Persia has certainly taken a giant leap from it's previous series. For those who are new to the series, Prince of Persia (POP) is basically and adventure game where it's main attraction is free running or parkour in a vivid and large environment using everything to proceed further. The new POP has certainly improved greatly graphic's wise.

As a Summary of the story:
Basically you are a typical Persian adventurer robing tombs for a living etc who has lost Farah in a sandstorm. For those who have known the series, no not Farah the princess from India, Farah is a donkey. Little do you know it, your day is about to turn bad or...good when you stumble across a runaway princess whose ultimate mission is to Heal the lands from the "Corrupted" a group of people who sold their soul to the God of darkness Arihman and are bent on setting him free.

Unlike previous POP games such as warrior within or the two throne whereby your environment is pretty much confined, the new POP has an extremely huge environment to venture about and beautifully rendered scenery. As a new addition to the game, the prince now has a follower, the sexy princess Elika who plays the role as support for the prince. Be it to leap over big gaps, or save the prince from a certain leap of death, combat and even to help the prince when he gets lost or unsure of how to proceed. There is always the talk button available for useful information or just random chat with the princess. Either way, the voice acting is done professionally and the script has been written whereby each conversation is interesting that you will be pressing the talk button continuously just to hear what sort of witty remarks the prince will be saying next. Also, Ubisoft has succeeded in creating a partner that you actually grow fond of as the story progresses. From her voice acting to the charming and witty comebacks she uses against the prince, Elika's role in the game is so significant that you actually care about her compared to other games where you see your follower as just some dumb AI who follows you around and constantly blocks your path. No this does not happen in POP as the prince interact with Elika if he needs to pass through a path which she is blocking.

    Be gentle on her

Another thing has changed from the previous POP games as well (for good or for bad) which is the combat. Now, you will notice that there are less enemies to deal with. Every battle will be a pretty much 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 (if you include Elika) battle. Do not worry yet however, for though it may sound boring however each 1 on 1 battle now takes more time to complete and allows from a more dramatic feel of battle. You can chain all sorts of attacks using acrobatic attacks, sword attacks, gauntlet attacks & Elika's attacks to create a massive combo. You can also use the environment to your advantage as some enemies cant be defeated by all other attacks. The new POP also features a very "God of War"-esque style of combat whereby on and off you will be prompt to press or mash certain buttons to save your life. You will notice that now your health bar is gone in this game. When the prince gets struck, he will begin to clench his sides stating that a next attack might bring you down on the ground and having you press a button to save your life. You pretty much cant die in this game. If you failed to press said button, Elika is always there to help you however at the cost of having the enemies health regenerate to a certain amount again. Further more the enemy taunts you of and on and you can press the talk button to taunt the enemy yourself giving a more dramatic experience to each battle.

Hey, I said I was sorry

    Healing the lands

Moving on the the free running, POP includes moves from the previous game as well as employed new ones. As an example, the prince can now ceiling climb over short distances and he can slide his way from certain heights along walls with the use of his gauntlets.

    Just, hanging out

Aside from that, POP has a great soundtrack (with compose Inon Zur and Stuart Chatwood) having songs that lifts the mood according to each situation making you feel like delving deeper into the game. The only qualm I had when playing this game was at certain times, some objects were a little hard to spot making me fall to my doom again and again.

Presentation (9/10): Great art, great inteface
Graphic (9/10): Beautiful and vast scenery and environment to explore. Character design was rendered beautifully as well
Sound (9/10): Great music keeping the mood to play on alive
Gameplay (9/10): Unique and exciting gameplay with free exploring to do all the running you want. Aside for some minor issues in battle, gameplay is great
Replay(7/10): Like most adventure games, there is pretty much nothing to so once you've beaten the game

    Final score : (43/50)

On a final comment, rent it, buy it, you definitely have to play it. This is Ubisoft's most successful POP os all the series yet. And it will most definitely be feautures as a trilogy as well
