Hello, ive recently downloaded X-com: UFO defence for the psx. Im using the ePSXe version 1.6 emulater program, the zip that i got has 2 files, MDF that is 650mb, and MDS that is 1.5kb. Ive tried running it as a iso and ps-exe from the emulater but neither show up on the list of games to play, ive downloaded quite a few other games that all work well, but they all have a IMG file that seems to be the main file. Sorry if this has been talked about already, im very new to the Emulater game.

you also need a CD drive emulator such as daemon tools or alcohol 53%/120%. Mount the .mds file to a virtual drive using one of those programs (make sure the .mdf is in the same folder as the .mds), configure the ePSXe CDROM plugin to the letter of the virtual drive, then use the 'run CD' option in ePSXe

It's 52% lion. .mdf and .mds are created from Alcohol 120%.

ok, ive downloaded Daemon Tools, and installed it. It is Now used as my CD drive, but i have no idea where to "mount" the .mds/.mdf files. This is where my Daemon Tools is installed-

    C:\Documents and Settings\Justin\My Documents\EMULATERS\PSX\Daemon Tools\DAEMON Tools Lite

there are then 3 folders in the DAEMON Tools Lite folder named, Icons-Lang-Plugins.

thanks for all the info so far

"Mounting" means using the Daemon Tools program to create a Virtual (Fake) CD/DVD drive. The image file is "Mounted" to this virtual drive, tricking your computer into thinking it has an actual CD Drive with the physical CD in it.

Run Daemon tools and follow it's instructions.

Mount it into any available virtual drive, once done, you should see it appear in My Computer.

ok, so im quite sure im becoming a huge pain here, but i am trying, lol, baby-steps right? I figured out DaemonTools, and got it all set up, set it to the X-com file, i go to start psxe and it does the first 10seconds of the intro or so, goes to where it would load to menu, screen goes black, and nothing after that

Then that is probably your own fault. What plugins are you using?

ePSXe will not work without plugins, google 'ePSXe plugin pack'

ok, downloaded a full plugin pack, installed it, i must have had a few plugins cause it asked if i wanted to change or overwrite the same files, i overwrit them, i tried xcom again, and no change, intro movie, and nothing else, but all my iso's still work fine

--EDIT-- ok, just goofing around, i have sound, and game is working, but once the intro plays, i have no video, just a black screen, but sound is there, and i can hear im selecting options

i downloaded a Pete's Plugin, but no change, it asked if i wanted to overwrite existing, so im guessing i already had it, i think its time for me go just give up, and see if i can find this somewhere to buy 2nd hand, or online, thanks for all the help guys
