I saw lately that Windows XP is holding many secrets :-\

Do you know one? Please post them here.

    XP only please...

Windows XP First startup sound (as well the ''secret'' sound):

In the directory (Copy, paste in Windows Explorer):
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\

    Filename (full path too):
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\title.wma

This is the sound played by the first Windows XP start.

Download (for Vista, 7 & older):
    Download
Warning! The download speed of my site is very low at the moment. I am working at it!

If you have Service Pack 2 or lower, you can bypass the password for the PC. Just press Ctrl+Alt+Del, click on th admin, and your in! It doesn't work or Vista or XP SP3, or if the PC is fully updated!

Or just start the computer on safe mode and log in as the admin.

    Command Prompt Star Wars

    click run and type
    telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl

Safe mode: When your PC is booying up, after the bios has loaded up, press F12 (depending on your PC) and you will get into a menu on where you can go into safe mode. There is safe mode, w/networking (internet) & CMD.exe. Either of them will work! It's weird how people don't know safe mode. Even with the name, they probably won't know what it means. SAFE MODE!

It also runs on XP. Whatever, it's actually a bit ''secret''.

Windows XP only allows 10 half-open ports by default, and your Internet connection's speed is throttled as a result. You can patch your TCP.sys and have many more half-open ports, greatly increasing your connection's speed.

You can get the patch here:
    http://hwrms.com/blog/?p=17

I set my max half-open ports to 900 and I am using OpenDNS, and I went from a regular cable connection to a T3 Connection.

While it's more of a tweak than a secret, many people are unaware that this is possible and I thought it should be mentioned in this thread. You can also apply this tweak as an option in NLite and create a pre-patched XP ISO.

It does not greatly increase your connection speed. It merely improves the speed of applications that open many connections.

you mean F8. F12 usually allows you to choose the boot device. F5 will also take you straight into safe mode. F12 can vary between PCs, F5 and F8 do not.

He said ''Depending on your PC".

And why didn't your posts merge automatically?

Delete also applies to some BIOS. Usually older ones, though, in my experience.

Though that's to boot up the BIOS, not to start in safe mode, ofc.

its a windows shortcut, it doesn't depend on the PC. It's always F8 or F5 depending on whether you want a menu or want to go straight into safe mode.

Faster browsers and faster torrent clients that can download at T3 speed on a cable connection download as fast as a T3 connection, even it it isn't a T3 connection. If you bend time and space by traveling through a wormhole, you'll get from one end of the universe to the other instantaneously, instead of in an eternity at the speed of light. There are greater things than speed because there is a better way to make a connection from point A to point B than the speed of light.

One day we will figure out how to overcome the crappy default settings of the universal OS that governs our laws of physics, I'd like to change the difficulty setting from Hard Mode to Easy Mode, give people more than one life and improve our ability to see more than 3D graphics when they're supposed to be in 10D; until that happens this game sucks and hopefully it doesn't have a sequel.

That's true, I have a slow PC and I;ve been ranting about it...
Anyways, my motherboard is an ASUS A7V333 or something like that.
I searched up on YouTube and it stated that F5, F8 buttons, etc. many vary on fuction. You can probably modify it so F8 would be the boot menu, etc.!

I'd also like to mention that having more than 10 half-open ports also optimizes online gaming performance. But that's an understatement, it may not be a T3 connection and you may be using a cable connection, the game's client doesn't know that.
