Ok, so I recently plugged my laptop into my Router with a cable, but when I plugged it in via cable, I get an error saying that my Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP Address. It works perfectly when using wireless and works on my Vista desktop, but not on my Windows 7 x64-bit laptop. Does anyone know how to fix this?

EDIT: It turns out that it's my router...I connected directly to the modem and works perfectly. And I assigned a new IP address, so everything is good, at least, once a I get a new router. Thanks for your support.

the router isnt issuing the laptop with an IP address. give it a few minutes, if it doesnt work then try repairing the connection.

I left it for a while, but it didn't work. I tried troubleshooting it, but Windows couldn't fix it, nor could Network Magic.

i seem to have a similar issue...when i'm at my mom's, i try to use a neighbors internet (wireless), and have the same error...waiting, and repairing the connection does nothing...i thought i was doing something wrong. =/

two computers having the same IP address. usually because one or both are manually set, or the router/dhcp server running out of addresses in the pool.
