I've already tried the leaks. Pretty much IS Vista. There was a video of some guy running it on a slow ass computer, so that would be a pro.

I'm planning to try it in a VM sometime. Patton has already tried it and he said it is worse than vista. In his exact words: 'All interface, no OS'

Not going to. Couldn't be bothered with downloading the ISO. Besides, why do I want another Vista?

Already did and it suX.Loony and I talked about getting 56 c on idle on that os (8800ultra watercooled). It has absolutely no power optimization for the components.Do not overclock anything under it if you don't want to fry you'r card\processor.Win 7=Overheating.

I was hoping it would not be like vista at all since microsoft admitted they had failed with vista. I guess some people just never learn. Im more looking foward to the next release of ubuntu which should be comming soon.

MIcrosoft only partially admitted they failed. They admitted that the compatibility of vista was not up to scratch, but they still think the completely excessive and performance killing interface is the best thing since sliced bread, when in reality it is almost as bad as the complete lack of compatibility.

Am I the only one who thinks Vista is not THAT bad? Only for gaming though..

Noticed the hardware requirements for running a game under vista are considerably higher than under XP? What do you think makes them higher?

so i guess we're [or at lease for me until i try this] still stuck with xp then.

the only thing i know that will be great for windows 7 would be dx 11, which was also a reason why waylonn liked vista because of dx10. if windows 7 ends up similarly to vista, there may yet again be a lack luster support for dx 11.

Hmph. I'm gonna stick with XP until new games don't work on it.

F*ck you Gates. Not gonna fall for that.

Win seven prebeta didn't have Dx11.(I tried it trust me).It has DX10.1 to be exact. And I hate it.Though Vista ain't a prob for my specs.I can run anything anyways but yeah Loony is absolutely right.Vista needs the same power from a pc itself which would be enough for running a low end game under xp.Still it doesn't affect me and neither it would loony if he tries because of his excessively high Specs(Beats moi). :p

I tested Win7 in a vmware box. It installed fine, even the vmware tools were installed in no time. I haven't found anything broken yet.

I have skipped Vista, because I didn't test it enough and there were so many complaints. I have played around with Vista for a while, so I know some things.

My first impression of Win7 is that it's cleaner than Vista. Less annoying things enabled by default. Memory usage after install was around 500mb (non aero) which is quite a lot in my opinion. Overall, it feels faster than Vista. Less thinking, faster loading.
Compared to XP the explorer is new for me (same as in Vista), which is something you have to get used to. Finding most settings from XP can also be done in Win7. I don't really know what the new features of Win7 are, so I could not really test them. Tell me what should be new and I'll let you know what it feels like.

I have to switch eventually, and it will probably be to Win7. XP is getting old.

Not interested in downloading OSs that are in the beta stage.Sure to have bugs.

Yeah, you're all passing judgement on beta software... I'm not going to make a decision until there's a final version.

It probably hasn't got any new features at this stage in development.

With beta software you can be amazed about the good and new parts, especially for an OS. It's almost guaranteed that those will be in the final version. My experience with starting with an OS too late is that it becomes too difficult to get used to.

When an OS goes beta, the chance of new features is slim. It'll generally be bugfixing. So you can get a good impression.

I will probably change to Vista (maybe 7 if it's better) if I ever see the need (no games for XP, that's my need :p).
