    Yes it will.

    LU64 won't play DVD-R's.

soo...that means it will play GameCube games from a DVD-R?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! i knew i made a great choice!!!! when i showed the owner the model number, he said i'm looking for a specific Wii, and i'm like, "WTF", so i got the lowest model number he had ^_^ and luck was on my side again also, it's running 4.2U!!!!

Yes it will run GC games from DVD-R.

Burn the ISO's at 4x speed in imgBurn, and verify.

It will also read Wii games from DVD-R. I have no idea on how to burn those since I use USB loaders (I can use my friends games then :p).

You need it modded first, though. There are ways enough to mod 4.2 Wii's.

Ace is gonna do it for me wirelessly somehow...and i will use USB loading for Wii games to save lotsa time!(not having to burn pwns...)

the main reason i'm glad for this, is cuz you can't USB load GC games T_T

    offtopic..

it's kinda funny how 2 offline people are replying to eachother (yoshi and i...)

You can't USB load GC games yet. Waninkoko is developing a way to do it.

    Yeah :p

    Yes it is.

I'm rather curious if there is a new file system being made or that it just uses the normal file systems/WBFS.

you know FAT32 and such right?

I'm curious if the GC games need to be placed on a device formatted to FAT/NTSC file systems, the knows WBFS (Wii Backup File System) file system or a new file system is being made.

hmmm...this conversation is about to get interesting...if it creates a new file system, how would we be able to format our drives to support it? would windows recognize it?

No Windows wouldn't. Windows would ask if you want to format your device.

WBFS Manager for example is able to format your device to WBFS. And after that it is the only program that can read from it.
Of course there are ways around it so you can use FAT32 with your USB Loader, but WBFS makes it easier to add games.

Maybe another program like that will be used to format the device to the new file system...

sooo...if we formatted it to where windows doesn't recognize it...how would we copy games to it?!?! -.-"

    Using the program.

WBFS Manager allows you to copy games from and to the device. I guess the new program then also must have that, else it would be a rather useless file system.

hmmm...true,true...now i gotz another question...i got a 500GB external harddrive...will the Wii boots games from it with other stuffs on it, or do i need to format it?..

I'm not too sure about that.

I got mine formatted to WBFS just because it is easy to copy games then.

I heard rumors if you make a folder called "WBFS" on the root of the HDD and you put the ISO's in that folder it will work. But like I said, I'm not too sure.

    http://wbfsmanager.codeplex.com/

This can format your HDD to WBFS.
And if it can't, your Wii can.
I formatted mine to WBFS via my Wii, using uLoader, because WBFS Manager failed to format it (it was empty anyway).

Yoshi, you still have a lot to learn. :p
If the Wii doesn't run a DVD-R in Wii mode, how will it run a DVD-R in GC mode?

And the thing that Waninkoko is just an experiment. He's not even sure if he will do it. It's not worth it as of now. The Wii's processor is too fast for GC games running in Wii mode and it's very unstable.

And I can't hack your Wii wirelessly catz. :p
I can only tell you what to do. It'll be easier if you have Skype.
