READ BEFORE STARTING You need: SD card Test homebrew (optional) Eyes Internet connection on your Wii Read this on how to soft-mod your Wii - Important! Please watch this to get everything that's needed (for 4.2) Now I guess you have installed the BootMii and HBC as said in the video. BootMii You have installed BootMii on the SD card, if correct. Now, leave the SD card in the Wii and power it off (if already done, skip) Power the Wii on again. You will get a screen with 4 icons: 1. Wii Menu 2. Homebrew Channel 3. SD Card 4. Options You cannot do something with the Wii remote, so leave it alone. Press the Power button. Noticed that the cursor moves from the Wii menu to the Homebrew Channel? You can do this on every icon. How to launch Press Reset on each of the icons. The feature will now be booted. For example, if you press Reset on the Wii Menu, the normal startup way will be booted. If you press Reset on the HBC, it will go straight to the HBC without loading the Wii menu. Good luck with BootMii! Homebrew Channel (HBC) You have either launched the HBC with BootMii, or the Wii Menu. As by now, the screen is empty (no homebrew). Don't worry, your installation of the HBC isn't corrupt. You have no homebrew! How to install homebrew Plug the SD card out of your Wii. Nothing will crash, as long as you are in the HBC or the Wii Menu. Create a folder called "apps" in the root of your SD card/USB storage device. Now, download this (download link located in the right column) Extract it to a folder (there are 2 folders and 1 file inside) / Extract it directly to the apps folder Place the contents in the just created apps folder. (skip if you already extracted it to the apps folder) You may get rid of the Readme and the guide folder. Plug the SD card in your Wii again. If you had not yet booted up the HBC, do it now. You will see that there is a bar, with Homebrew Browser in it. Pick the Wii remote. Select the app with your cursor and press A Press "Launch" or "Start" It will start initializing your network connection. Then it starts receiving data... And it will start downloading the homebrew logo's (ZIP file) (to the SD card)... And last but not least it will start extracting it... (takes a long-long time) If it's done, the screen will give an error. Restart your Wii, and start the app again via the HBC. It will start doing all these things again, except downloading & extracting. You will get a screen with lines. Wait a few seconds, and it should come up with a screen with logo's and text. Select the category in which you want to download things from the above bar. For example, I'm selecting "Emulators". Select anything you like, and press "Download" while on the information screen. It will start downloading the application or game. When it's done, it start installing (aka extracting). The data will be extracted to the APPS folder on your SD card. When you are done downloading things, press HOME (when nothing happens, select an category/press the B button and then press HOME again) and select "Return to Loader". It will now boot back to HBC, and your apps are installed for you. Select the app and press either "Start" or "Launch" to start it. Good luck with the Homebrew Channel!
This is just BootMii and HBC. Ace1o1's turorial is a bit of almost everything, but no instructions on "how to use".
Yes. I haven't had time on putting together a complete soft-mod guide with the works. (ie - GC backup playing and playing the latest games with best compatibility). Oh yes, all of the applications that you download and launch through the Homebrew Channel goes in the /apps folder on your SD Card.
Dude tutorials are supposed to be text heavy. The way you made yours made it sound like you're hiding something people definitely need to know of.
