I've got mine and just found this topic. The things seem pretty good, especially compared to experience of a friend's 3rd-party covers. They provide a decent grip and the mahoosively rubberised endpiece means that it could well decrease the damage done by playing "Wii Darts".

They're giving them out free to wii owners because they're going to start packaging them with all wiimotes in the near future - it's a "sorry we didn't think of it earlier, have the ones we owe you" thing.
Same with the wrist strap replacements, they are free and will be in the new models of the wii. I ordered them a while ago and I like them much better than the first batch of straps.
