I've been searching through but I can't seem to find concrete answers. Anyways, is there anyway to get my US Wii to play Japanese games? I want to import Tales of Graces but the Wii is region locked so I want to find a way to play it. I heard something about a homebrew channel and messing with Twilight Princess but I also heard that it doesn't work anymore. Any help would be appreciated.
You should go to the Tutorials section, I think you'll find your answer there but I suggest you to go to www.gbatemp.net , I'm sure you'll find anything you want there, and BTW, Tales of Graces is not out yet but it's good to see people are looking for it, after all, Tales games is the main reason why I bought the Wii.
That hack requires certain firmwares to work-mine requires something else altogether. A modchip is a costly way to get it going-but that cost more... There is ONE other option-what is your wii's current firmware? A free loader disc can help somewhat-sure games past a certain number (it stopped working on games past...3.80 I think ???) won't work but it may help somewhat...provided the game in question isn't a recent wii game.
my wii's firmware is 4.2 but i dont use downloaded thing on it... its simply said my baby that i want to let it grow up. the only thing that i want is tic tac toe.
4.2-yours is higher than mine. I doubt it can be hacked-prehaps a mod chip could work but it's not exactly cheap... A softmod is free but requires the right firmware to work.
yes, but do you have something that can let me play any downloaded games from www.dcemu.co.uk ? you must click on wii to get to the wii homebrew-if you will
You may not be able to play them unless they made a hack that can bypass that firmware. I'll leave google as your tool here. [me=mds64]runs away[/me]
I haven't updated my Wii since Brawl was first released... Also, lets say I do install Homebrew Channel onto the Wii (I think I have the jist of how to install it). What would allow me to play region-locked games and how would I go about installing it? And what if a game requires an update? Will the Homebrew Channel be able to play that game?
If the game requires an update...you'd be stuffed I guess. Like the psp scene-I'm stuck on m33v6 while the new 5.55 firmware has locked my in place But I suggest if you want to explore the possibilities of the homebrew channel and see what needs to be done. (To anyone who's got the homebrew channel-can you unlock the region lock controls? )
you had to run away, no? and 5.55 is really high (dont know if it is for psp, because i dont have one)
5.55 is the current psp firmware...well it's gone to 5.70 now. 4.2 of the wii (tthe current) can brick your console. People with modded AND un modded consoles have reported instances. What a shame.
