Not what I was expecting out of a Dragon Quest game. It seemed the developers were more focused on using the Wii's sensor technology rather than creating a game worth while. It is bad when the only good Nintendo Wii games out there are titles by Nintendo. I don't believe third party developers really understand what to do with the Wii yet, they should learn from Nintendo if they have any doubts.

    Presentation 4/10
Not what I was expecting out of a Dragon Quest game. The story line was a bit lame there wasn't much voice over. The few voice overs were pretty horrible and the fact that for most of the game you spend your time reading just doesn't cut it for me. The characters aren't memorable.

    Graphics 5/10
I'm sure the Wii can push better graphics, the graphics seemed more suitable for a GC game.

    Sound 4/10
The music wasn't too bad, it was the diologe. The few cutscenes with voice diologe were just annoying. The voice actors weren't great, but adding their diologe to ridiculous cutscences was just horrible.

    Gameplay 3/10
The first problem with this game is the restrictiveness of the game. All the stages are set on a rail. You can move either forward or backwards but that's about it, you can't even look behind you when your going backwards. There is no open endness to this game, not even just a little pinch. The most movement you are allowed is when in town but even that is restrictive.

The battle system is about the only real thing that was good with this game. The targeting, slashing and even allowing to precision slash an enemy arrow and reflect it back to them gave me hope for this game. The horizontal, vertical and diognal slash was great. The game allowed blocking attacks using your shield which you controlled it's position with the Wii remote, this was one of the best parts of the battle system.

Another thing I did not like was the whole first person perspective, not only just in battles but throughout the whole game. This works for FPS but not for this type of game.

    Lasting appeal 2/10
Extremely low, I wouldn't play this game again. Not even to unlock things that I might have missed. This is one of those games that I would only play once and sell it.

    Final review 18/50
