I dual boot xp and 7.
xp has dos compatability with older games and 7 is what vista should have been.
I don't see any need for anyone to have vista, especially when torrents are free.

...it eats the half of my RAM maybe?

I have 2 GB of RAM and it needs 1 GB to run...........

    It's CRAP, I say you...

win7 uses 32% of my 4GB RAM! Im on a 32bit OS though so its only 3.25 so its about 1GB, the same as vista.

i can run more things on XP.....and yes XP does not require a lot of ram to run.....1GB = 90% of things to work...the other %10 is if your a gamer, and require more ram 2 to 4GB
XP is lighwietgh.....plus i don't want my computer asking me for permission for everytime i try to start something up....my computers' not my bitch and im not his/her pimp....just run the dam program etc....

I have used Vista before and its a hasle...it gives you all these extra features which you don't need....

I want to switch to Windows 7 already, except msg has raised one of my main concerns for not going through with it. Support for older DOS Based appos or games. Heck even the MMORPG I'm playing has issues with Win7.

BINGO! people had xp and it was very good as mentioned by the quote above. then vista was released and this thing was worse then xp. how could something new be worse then before? upgrade nightmares, limitations on the end user, incompatibility between programs, required a lot of tech power, etc...... how do you go from about 2gb on the hard drive to about 15gb? this is just an os, so what the hell is the super extra space used for by the os?? a lot of changes that are really unnecessary on vista, like what microsoft did with office 2007. total confusion everywhere.

when vista was released, xp were making better sales then vista. it was so bad that microsoft stopped selling xp because if they'd continue selling vista, you would clearly see where the better os was and that vista was a mistake. heck, you even had computer makers who offered a roll back to xp if they were given vista or a choice between vista or xp. clearly it shows vista was a disaster. this would also mean windows 7 is just as bad as vista, but you wouldn't know because xp is no longer on sale and is no longer on support. so you are stuck with windows vista or windows 7.

actually, my mom's computer is running XP, and it just updated....she still gets support from MS..

    this is funny and true....
and to add onto this, there were (and still are) allot of bugs in vista.....
see, windows 7 was a mere attemp to regain some of the xp feel....
windowsxp = simplicity, organization, and has all you need to get the job done....
(if something extra is needed theres trrnts, for dvdcopying etc...)
the downside to all that i have said..... is that im a computer tech....and trust me when i tell you, xp is better..even some other free os's such as ubunut....
i rather loose $40-80 than fix a prob on a computer with vista or 7..or cut of a leg (not really though)...thats how much i dislike it....
wait......don't they have a downgrade option in some vista and 7 sys-soft.....oh see there it is....microsoft found the prob....
i just don't say things blindly like others...i actually study comp sys-software in my work, and try it out.....
    straying away from the point...
new does not always mean better.....if your anything like me, you wait about a month after a product is released to see if it indeed fits to your likeing, don't be swaded by people telling you "newer is better", because that does not mean thats its neccessarily true...
if your like me, unless something is limited edition you would buy....

great things that have disappeared, and now the new is awful, heres a list of new things that suck:
1.cartoon network shows which involve kids...wtf
    2.nicktoons dbz...no comment
    3.good games
    4.good movies
    5.the first hulk movie
seems everything has gone downhill...although it could be debateable....

Catz_102: see, thats what i mean...but she gets support....if lets say, my mom got a new computer for example, she would get lost in vista...for regular joes i recommend xp...for those who want a challenge (headache) get vista or 7
Dills2: it's not hatred....it's about making your life easier....i hate stress

cause your thirteen....j/k but it takes knowlegde of all systems in order to find the defects/issues in others....
im sure it runs with ease, but that may be due to all the extra ram cramped in there
did you read my previous post's?

Yes i did read them but i'm no computer tech i get on the internet and play games and idk about the ram the organization isn't that bad and if any goes wrong my dad could do something about it cause he's a computer tech.
    And btw i'm actually 11.

Vista is just ultra bad. That my opinion. Slow, not many software was made for it. XP, & and mac are the best!

    Natewlie A bag of tricks

I have Vista and I don't see much of a problem with it. The only compatibility issue I had with it was a PS3 controller driver not being compatible and, uh, yeah. That's the extent. Honestly people jumping the Vista hating band wagon are exaggerating (especially the Mac commercials) a lot of the flaws with Vista. It's alright, but it's not the worst or the bane of Window's existence (Windows ME was that). I don't really notice a huge RAM consumption either, and I have 2 gigs of it, which isn't really considered a lot of it.

A couple of things are customizable, like the one warning before starting something up or installing something. Which is one of the complaints.

What the hell is this? Obviously new good movies and games suck. The first Hulk movies does in fact suck, but it's not new.

I had worse on my XP.

Right now Windows 7 uses as much RAM as vista did, but it actually has better uses and the compatibility feels better.

I've never had a problem with MMO games ever since i learnt the "Run as administrator" Obvious fix... unless i also need to run in "XP compatibility"

Though vista just felt like a buggy version of 7.... so its not really much to notice unless you use 7 or use XP for development or running older programs.

Natewlie: yeah i know, i got carried away....first hulk movie does suck though
I know some things you can customize, such as the computer bugging you when you try to install something, but look at the system as a whole, compared to the other os', and it is not as good....
    kingvxx: thats pretty funny.... :D
although it might be due to %75 of guys (and i add myslef to that list) that watches porn....[hush.... my girlfriend doesn't know]
viruses, tracking cookies....damn them unreliable torrent sites...im sure natewlie doesn't watch porn cause shes a lady.
Noukon: yeah exactly, they are trying to make it look more like xp in the os sense, just with more appealing icons...i gotta admit i kinda dig those... :)
