First off, Yes this post should be posted in the child board but I feel like this is a universal thing.

Alright. Heres my question. Why are people hating on microsoft so much? I don't think its bad. I mean, I don't own an XBOX or stuff. But why do people hate it so much? Same goes for the playstation 3.

Note : I don't own many of these home consoles so I don't know, but is it because of some console war going on?

It's overpriced I guess? People say that Microsoft's greedy or I think that's what I heard.

People always hate certain consoles...it's opinion fuel by fanboys/facts.

    Xbox-failure rate/pay to play online

    Ps3-Price/can't copy games/not many exclusives

Wii-seems childish/lack of mature games/anything worthy to play

Pc-Too complicated/not everyone has one that can run today's games well

    But there are advantages...

    Xbox-cheaper games/can be modded

    Ps3-Plays blue ray/free online gaming

wii-Wii remote revolutionary/the few gems are worthy titles/virtual console means alot of classic games ressurrected

Pc-Sheer power from proper spec pc/to some the challenge of getting it running is appealing (pirates who like messing with stuff they shouldn't only)/other uses besides gaming

    I'm a wii, ps3 and pc user, though I prefer consoles...idiot proof ::)

Um...the PS3's price has come way down(and includes a lot of extra hardware over the other two), can't copy games is not a valid con, PS3 has more exclusives than the Xbox 360.

It'd be correct to say that the PS3 needs more quality exclusives

Are 360 games cheaper where you come from? Only the Wii has cheaper games where I live! :p Again, I don't think it's fair to judge a console based on how easy it is to pirate software! :s I think that the 360's game library should be mentioned here as it is more varied than the other two consoles. Also the XBLA has some worthy games in it.

I'm a PC/PS3 user. I probably play my PC more, but sometimes it's nice to play on a console, especially split screen. :)

I'm speaking to the whole of romU with the piracy thing, not just normal people ::)

I know it's gone down, still cheaper to buy a 360 arcade here for $200 instead of $300 for a crappy 40gb console which might have fan issues (we tend to abuse our systems...).

Wii is always the cheapest, but I'm factoring second hand games...it's rare that second hand ps3 games go below $30, and if they do it's over stocked crap!

You can find a second hand xbox game for 20, where's the ps3 would be 30-40.

I did not include new ones because...well second hand is a better option ::)

And many console games...split screen wise, is becoming more of a memory...I HATE THIS MULTIP SYSTEM LINK CRAP!

(I wanted to vs a mate on grid on his xbox...no split screen :( )

Your england, so you'd be close in pricing terms (though you guys are a tad expensive overall to us XD)

i dont hate any console and i certainly wouldnt go calling a ps3 shit because i dont have one.
i have xbox 360 purely because of the cheap games, 20 pound for 4 second hand games is great when you consider 3 or 4 month earlier just 1 game cost 40.
even the new releases that have come back in shop second hand are 2 for 30 pound or if their top games(mw2 etc) its still 2 for 40 pound.
i have 41 games, work out the money ive saved

I'd have gotten one, but the failure rate and the fact is...I kinda dislike microsoft/the exclusives I want aren't there means I chose a ps3, though I never originally planned on a ps3...I thought my laptop would be enough ::)

    uh...what?
The $200 arcade comes with no HDD, no wireless cards no batteries for the controllers, no internet browser, emulates 1080p and is plagued with hardware problems.
The $300 console has a 40gb HDD(which can be upgraded with any laptop HDD), wireless card, internet browser, fully supports 1080p(though I admit many games don't use it yet) and has fan problems(I hadn't heard of them, but I trust it's true).

Hmm, obviously it's different in other countries. Kinda weird that there's such a price gap.

    Where have you been?
The 300 dollar console is the Xbox 360 Elite.
Which has a 120GB HDD, no wireless card or internet browser.
It comes with an ethernet cable, a headset, a wireless controller, 2 AA Duracell batteries and usually a game or two.

Where I'm from, I find Wii extremely expensive, whereas the Xbox is the cheapest by far.

Except that is a general census, where I've seen only 3-4 Xboxes breaking while a lot more never getting issues.
Its just goes to show you.
Don't form opinions on these consoles by what you hear.
Go by what you yourself experience.

Thrown together in 5 minutes because they cannot admit defeat?
They were never losing. As a matter of fact, Xbox Original was good and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that.

I find Xbox/Wii end up similarly priced as all the extras for the Xbox are expensive as hell.

Xbox was good, the 360 however was a big disappointment.

sony has the biggest exclusives. here are two of the biggest exclusives that was for sony, devil may cry 4 and final fantasy 13. the biggest failed exclusive is heavenly sword. the studio didn't get an even break. they're story tells you that there can no longer be an exclusive trait for the ps3/360 because of this problem.

of course in this site, i'm labeled as the nintendo fanboy. but they can't seem to grasp the idea that i ridicule nintendo as well. fanboys don't ridicule their own stuff, only the competitors. so how do they explain this, ask them?!
