I just wanted to know, please don't be offensive as i am trying to gather opinions, i am sorry if i don't speak English very well, i am Brazilian, we don't speak English here normally, and by any means i don't want it to be a fight between two peoples (or more [keep me out of it as i will not interfere just hear]) of different beliefs or none belief.

So i am christian (baptist) and i want to know what bothers you so much about my belief.

Judeo-Christian (Muslim included) religion in general is hated due to a vocal minority of people, and the large organizations (ie. The Church) that support them. They support ideals that are considered archaic, offensive, ignorant and bigoted.

While it is easy (and truthful) to say that many of the world's conflicts arise from Religion, it's also ignorant to assume that without religion, people would magically love each other or that we would have no (or even less) war. Religion is just the easiest route people have to hate each other. Without it, people would find other reasons to hate each other. South Park does a very good example of this in the episode Go God Go.

Sometimes I think faith is a retarded, silly little thing. And sometimes I notice that most people with faith are generally nicer to others.

for me it's people who are willing to purposely ignore facts and reason to uphold their beliefs.

and the lies Christians tell just to be able to keep pedaling their nonsense.

Christians (and other religions, but mostly christians) are hated generally because in a lot of cases they push their religion onto other people.

What did you expect? You asked why people hate a religion, and they gave their honest answers.

EVERY BELIEF SYSTEM was or is hated in some way by some party. It's moot to consider why people hate Christians, because those same reasons would apply to mostly all of theistic religion.
For one, as someone mentioned, forcing their religion unto others...
    Inquisition anyone?

To be honest, I don't hate Christians unless they stop keeping their ideals to themselves and try limiting me. Then I get pissed. It's a case-by-case basis. Two of my best friends (twins) are Christian, but they've never attempted to condemn nor control me. I didn't even know they were Christians until a couple years after I met them, because they didn't preach to me or the like. On the other hand, though, a girl who goes to their church got up in front of our school assembly a while back and delivered a speech about anti-abortion issues, basically preaching to everyone in the hall about this organisation and how abortion is against Christian ideals, etc etc. That annoyed me, and still does, despite the fact that she's totally crushing on me now and that I could probably get her into bed.

I don't hate Christians. If I hated Christians then I would have to hate everyone. Christians just believe in something, like the fact that some people don't believe in something.. It would be immoral to suggest that I can hate someone who follows and believes in Christianity but be nice to someone who follows and believes in the Buddhism. They are beliefs none the less, they are no different from the other, unless of course you are defining their features from the small print.

I admit that some may wish to 'show others the light' but don't we all do that about something that we like? What makes us so different from, what some people like to call, 'them?'

That's a rather broad question to ask. It's not just the group targeted itself, but rather the individuals (usually extreme) that go out on the limb to present their beliefs in dogmatic ways.

I have friends that are Christians, and I have a tendency to say, "God damnit!" a lot, but they were quite forgiving as they know it usually is a slip-up. Thankfully, they're one of the most rational beings I have ever met.

Suiseiseki, you should hit it and quit it with her. I believe there is something in the bible that says something against premarital sex (i.e. fornication). That way, when you are through with her, you can smash her beliefs with that concept, and she won't have a fucking leg to stand on.

I wouldn't do that... the great Shakespeare's story Hamlet, Polonius tells Laertes "Give thy thoughts no tongue, Nor any unproportioned thought his act ." it's better to hate in private than make a bigger mess by making a scene.

I don't hate all Christians (one of my best friends is Christian, not to mention most of my family) however there are certain types of christians I dislike either due to their insistence that everyone believe what they do, their refusal to accept scientific evidence that disproves parts of the bible or the hypocrites that only follow the parts of the bible that suits them (a good example is a christian that believes homosexuality is wrong, but don't keep kosher, it's in the same book and everything!)
