Which Wii mod chip should I go for?

    Hey guys,

    I finally managed to contact a guy who will mod my wii and I'm not sure which to go for.
    I know the Wii Key is good but I'm not sure it will play future games even though it's updated by DVD-R.

    I already bought SMG really cheap, so I'm not worried about that game. Just Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros.

    He says "We have the Wiikey and the D2Ckey mod chips."

    I did a little research on both but I wanted to know what you guy's opinions on them are.

    I would guess the second one is only suitable for the newer type of 'unmoddable' wiis

    Well I've had mine for almost a year.

    I'm sure he won't have to go through the crazy modding process by grinding the chipset down.

    wiikey.cn has been down for ages, and if there not coming back, no mare firmware updates, though i heared there making a new site....

    Thanks for the heads up man.

    Hopefully the Wiikey team will kontinue to release updates in the future.

    Otherwise I will have to get the D2CKey which will be a little more spendy, since there is more sodering involved.

    I wonder if they received threats and such just like this site did?

    You cant just get any chip, if your chipset is D2C then you can only get a D2CKey. If not then you can get the other chips.

    Yeah I used the Wiitracker a few days ago and it says -

    There is a 35% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2B
    and a 65% chance that it is a GC2-DMS.

    Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut.

    Everyone else I've talked to said they got the same thing.

    So I assume this means I need the DC2 key, unless anyone with the same has a Wiikey?

    Apparently the new DC2 chipsets were released in August 07. I received my Wii back in February 07.

    So there is no way I need the D2Ckey, I will have to get the Wii key with this mod guy I've been talking to.

    I just hope wiikey.cn will be online again for future updates.

    Sorry for the "triple" post. I'm not trying to break the rules.

    I just wanted to give whoever, a heads up. I got my Wii modded finally and it works great, I love it!

    I got the Wiikey with the update for SMG but I have that game anyway.

    If there is anyone with questions from what I've learned just ask.
