I'm planning on downloading a NES emulator so I can play EarthBound (Zero), but before I download it, does anyone know of one that can also emulate the Famicom Disk System (that isn't MESS; that uses up way to much memory); I'm considering downloading Shin Onigashima.

The best NES/Famicom emulator is undoubtedly FCEUltra here's a link:

    http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/nes/fceultra.html

    Why you might ask??

    * It has the most game compatibility, even some of the Asian bootleg ROMs run on it

    * It doesn't need heavy system specs

*Best of all, you can find cheat codes for NES/Famicom titles in the FCEUltra format!!

Why may I ask would you like to play FDS format games? As most NES/Famicom titles are in the iNES format??

I've heard that alot. I guess I'll go with FCE Ultra (now to convince my parents I won't be sued or something for using an emulator).

Turns out a Shin Onigashima ROM is available in the GBA format as well. And fortunately I'm planning on getting one, as the Mother 3 translation will most likely be for GBA emulators.

Since you're going for the GBA emulator go for VisualboyAdvance:

    http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/gba/vboyadvance.html

I'd suggest you get the 1.8.03beta version, the vba link capable version (the unofficial version on the page), is only used if you'd like to emulate the link capability of the GBA. This version will eat up alot of your system's resources the more GBA's emulated (max 4 GBAs).

Also, to "better" vba's operation please go to my topic:

"vba-over.ini,gba.rom(GBA BIOS) & NES gg.rom (game genie BIOS), Where to get them"

    https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php/topic,6326.0.html

In it you will find useful information that will help you overcome "game loading error" problems
