Of the four methods of downloading media from the internet, which do you prefer: 1. Via File hosting sites such us Rapidshare, megaupload or places like RomUlation? 2. Via torrent download 3. Via peer2peer file sharing (Limewire & the like) 4. Via IRC For me, it's number one, through file hosting sites, because: You can just get files one at a time, you just browse through their library. Downloads are faster, dependent on your internet connection ofcourse. And, depending on how responsible the owner/s of the site is/are regarding making sure the files the site hosts are 100% virus free & in good working order, you can get satisfying downloads with little or no security risk at all.
In the order listed, actually. 1. Via File hosting sites such us Rapidshare, megaupload or places like RomUlation? 2. Via torrent download 3. Via peer2peer file sharing (Limewire & the like) 4. Via IRC Direct HTTP links tend to be the fastest and safest. Torrents is like P2P with better speeds, that also tends to be safer. P2P makes you wait an hour and a half for a song and you'll probably end up in jail . I do some IRC file-sending with e-fronds but I'd never go rom-downloading from an fserv; too much effort to browse for shitty speeds. FTP is another worthy source of downloading, and is at about the same level as torrents in my book, but it really depends on what you're downloading, what the conditions are.
Rapidshare (but only because I have premium) FTP Torrents IRC Shitwire and the like, only really good for porn.
File hosting Torrent Peer2Peer IRC I never download off IRC anyway. Limewire I use for Peer2Peer. uTorrent for torrent. etc.
you forgot to mention newsgroup. with newsgroup you find a really good collection of porn, from the bwa series to the gta series. don't forget, you also get those isos [pc to console].
Usenet usually isn't free though unless your ISP runs it, and if they do then generally they don't include the alt.bin.* groups.
1. Via File hosting sites such us Rapidshare, megaupload or places like RomUlation? -Good: Always available, unless it is remove by the host. -Bad: Limited download time (although it can be bypass if your ISP is using dynimic IP address) 2. Via torrent download -Good: Fast download time -Bad: More leecher then seeder = Death sourse 3. Via peer2peer file sharing (Limewire & the like) -Good: O.k to fast download time, file available as soon as host is online. -Bad: Security (hidden trojan, worms and virus), Death file, disconnected host and getting lots of "No-what-you-are-looking-for" result. 4. Via IRC -No comment. I perfer File Sharing Host sicne my ISP is using dynamic IP, so i can just restart my router and modem to reset the ip.
Well there is a torrent turorial guide here somewhere. Type in "Questions & Answers for Dummies" on the search bar, anand posted a link on how to use torrents there, actually it was I who asked about how torrents worked, thanks for that again anand
