Which DS flashcard is the best?

Hey all,
I'm looking to upgrade form my old R4 to a new flashcard, so I was wondering which one is the best to go for. I'm considering AceKard2, I hear it is great, and I found one online for $10.
My R4 has played everything I've thrown at it, with the exception of the new Mario and Luigi game, but I'd prefer a card with updates.
Thoughts?

Acekard2i is cheap (price) and has good compatibility and supports the DS, DSLite and DSi.
Edge and CycloDS are also good cards, but do not work with the DSi

But Acekard2i is likely your best bet, being as you can get it for such a low price and can use it on a DSi without any issues.

I was researching the AK2i, and it seems the best. The compatibility with my R4 saves is also an attractive feature.

 

Just look around the forums and see who's complaining about issues with this or that running. You'll see a lot of complaints about the R4, second place is the DSTT. Now look how many complaints there are about the AceKard 2i.

Right. The choice is obvious, at least it was to me.

There aren't may complaints about either the Edge or Cyclo that Tirith mentioned either, but Normmatt and his team working on the Acekard All-In-One firmware (which reportedly has Bowser's INside Story working 100%) pretty much seals the deal as the Acekard being the choice.

 

I know the CycloDS has Bowser's Inside Story working 100%, and I think the Edge does too.

I believe all three of these cards have added to their firmware an anti-piracy patching coding that is being updated based on the Anti-piracy found in games currently released.

 

Oh, they do? That's even better then.

Of course, you can see which card DOESN'T have a fix for it.

 

Haha, yes indeed. My R4 has served my well, but I'll hand it off to my sister once my AK2i arrives, who I am sure will give it some good use. Now I just need the EZ 3in1 and I'll be set!

While Bowser's Inside Story is a game I do want to play, I'm more concerned with the future of AP checks in following games, and it seems the R4 and M3 will be ill equipped to keep up the pace. I've no doubt that if the R4 team didn't abandon their product, it would be on par with the best cards today. A shame really.

 

I heard the R4 team was raided, not abandoned... but yeah, anti-piracy patches will soon stop for the DS just because it's rather hard to find a genuine one, and since there are much better cards

I currently have the r4sdhc an she has been nothin but good to me once i got it setup but come tax check time i am going for cyclo ds i have heard nothin but good about it.

 

I'm using the SuperCard DSONEi ~ It's great and quite comparable to the AceKard2i.....I was originally planning on getting that ~

Anyways ~ The only games that hasn't worked on the SC DSOnei are the new ones with anti-piracy ~ Just like any other card ~

Though hopefully there will be fixes for it soon ~

The cyclo isn't at 100%. Game is fully playable, but the saving issue is still around. (I'm using 1.55 beta 3, the latest)

I'm almost convinced to buy an acekard too.

1.55 Beta 3 is NOT the latest. There is a 1.55 Final (stable release) which came out right around September 11th, the same time that the Mario and Luigi ROM did. And there is 1.56 Beta 3, which fixes Mario and Luigi 100% and Pokemon HG and SS. 1.56 Beta first came out just a day or so after 1.55 final came out. About two weeks ago.

 

I'm sorry, I meant 1.56 beta 3. Not 1.55.

And I'm using this firmware and still getting the save glitch, so there is still work to be done.

 

Weird, works just fine for me, and numerous other people. Did you start with a fresh game on 1.56 beta 3, or did you carry over a save file from when it ran on 1.54 or 1.55 with the AR code?

It could be that there is a glitch somewhere, or with the type of MicroSD, etc.

 

Personly i prefut the R4 card i have encountered no problems with mine so far and its guite cheap (£17 roughly) whats alot cheaper than most so far today...

 

£17 is a lot, since the Acekard2i costs a mere 12 USD (which is only about £7.5)
