Well I'm using Mozilla Firefox and I have the default download manager, it is quite slow though (Usually 2-7 kb).
Would getting a better download manager help the speed at all?
If it would which managers do you recommend??

For anything but Romulation I use Internet Download Manager. Can't go wrong with seamless browser integration. The speed is quite nice, too.

Don't want to seem to spam this a bit but I have a problem with IE7 (Downloads crash) So I decide to get a Download Manager. I am running on Windows XP 32 bit and my internet connection is dialup.

I don't care about most downloaded download managers but main concept suites my needs best.

    - Free!
    - Keeps download from crashing
    - freezes download (When you disconnect from the internet and allows you to resume it)
    - and keeps the download speed constant

Personal on dial-up my download speeds are 2-4 kb >_> and yet consider 6kb descent on this end. Here on romulation it's 60 kb to gradually lower to 12 kb.

I know there FlashGet, Free Download Manager, WinGet. But want it to be MOST compact with ONLY those things (I like to keep my PC clean).

    Yo,
    - if you mean by free, there's a lot of it.....(not that many..)
    - if you mean by keep download from crashing...i can't guarantee it,because sometimes your internet connection can stop or ' server down' at cybercafe..
    - if you mean it can be resumed...this depend on which site you download though...some offer that option while some aren't...
    - if you mean by download in constant speed...well..depend on your internet connection....

here some download accelerator that I've used..
    - Orbit Downloader
    - Download Accelerator Plus (DAP)
    - Flashget
    - Internet Download Manager (IDM)
    - Megaupload Toolbar ( download manager..i think)
sometimes I use torrent link...to download larger file...up to 500mb...
    - Bitorrent
    - uTorrent
    - forgot the others....sorry

I used the Orbit Downloader and it's worked well for me....

Utorrent is the go for the torrent downloads.

And Flashget is my preferable download manager.

bear in mind that resuming is often dependent on the server you are downloading from.
