I have an R4 card, Micro SD & Flash USB. I have downloaded a couple of games and extracted the .nds file. I have copied them onto the Micro SD, put it into the R4 and into the DS but nothing happens, the machine just says 'loading' for ages. Have I missded something?

    Sighs...

Many people have come to the forums lately asking how to fix their R4s. Firstly, there are no easy answers for these questions because:

    1. The R4 is no longer officially supported by the official R4 team
    2. There are a zillion clones of R4, some are better than others

Now, moving on to giving you ideas how to get it up and running.

First off, I have never gotten my supposedly high capacity R4 to work with a sd card higher than 4gigs. When I tried to get the 8gig card up, it had major issues that could not be resolved. So one tip is to use a smaller sd card. 2gigs is a great standard because all the R4s will work with it, the 4gig needs the high capacity model flash cart.

You need to have firmware to get the thing to work, the Right firmware.

Did your R4 come with a software cd or web site address to get firmware?
You need the firmware your R4 calls for, it should be on the box it came with.

I have noticed when I tried to update my firmware that the download came garbled. The software was no longer organized. Try finding an older version of the firmware and download that. Check to see if it comes with proper folders such as "system" and "moonshll." If you can find a copy that is properly organized you can use that as an guide to updating. Thats what I had to do to get mine updated. I had open the old firmware that was organized, and the other folder that came as a mess, I then copied the way the files were organized. After that my updated firmware worked and stopped being stuck on the loading screen.

Here is the tutorial already from our official section: https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php?topic=816.0

Lastly, try looking up the set-up process on youtube, there are many excellent videos. It should only take you a couple of videos before you find one that works for you.

    This one might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkLS_OKzAFA

    Good luck
